Editing … NICE! How much do you pay? Also that looks like a cool indie game store.

Editing … Ara, I paid $75. I think it's pretty complete, also came with some extra pieces and I think the only things missing are the hand add-ons and the little discs. Also yeah, it's a used electronics store with a pretty good retro games selection, though their prices are very hit or miss.

Editing … It plays with the NES games Gyromite and Stack-Up, neither of which I have. I got it just to display, and the reviews I've seen indicate the games are crap anyway.

Editing … Didn't you at one point even think about getting a R.O.B. tattoo or something? What happened to that idea? Where does your fascination with this NES peripheral come from?

Editing … Yeah, I'm still planning to get it at some point but I'm not sure about placement so it's not my highest priority for tattoos. A few of things: Rob happens to be my bf's name, we've been together over 10 years now, and one of the ways we bonded early in our friendship was talking about and playing Nintendo games. When it comes to gaming, we both kind of share a passion for what Nintendo stands for: fun, well-designed games without a bunch of fluff (e.g. set pieces, super-serious storylines, supermegahardxxcore grafficks). The history behind ROB is also interesting because it saved the video game industry in North America. Not sure if you're familiar with the story behind that, but basically North America got sick of video games because there were so many awful Atari games (some argue E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial was the final straw) and they were sick of being burned, leading to the "video game crash of 1983." No one wanted to touch a video game console, consumers or retailers alike. Then Nintendo has this idea to bundle a toy robot with their new NES console and market it as a ~toy~ and not a video game. Even though ROB had limited functionality and the games it played with sucked, the marketing trick worked, and the NES was able to take off. ROB also happens to be my main in Brawl, and was before I even knew about ROB's origins.

Editing … "The history behind ROB is also interesting because it saved the video game industry in North America" Ummm i think what brought people back to gaming wasn't ROB but Super Mario Bros and Zelda.
