Just when you think you saw everything Proteus had to offer, it surprises you with something new. Let's get one thing straight, Proteus isn't for everyone. It's more of an interactive painting, than a game. Saying that, however, it could potentially scratch the itch you never knew existed and/or potentially return you to your childhood, when you just felt the irresistible need to explore your surroundings/wilderness.
Pros: Gorgeous visuals, instills sense of wonder and discovery, audio works well with the visuals, cool trophies
Cons: Barely any traces of gameplay or storytelling, occasional stretches of game time when you see nothing new, could've used more variety in wildlife and scenery, randomly generated islands add very little to the game as you can potentially see almost everything the game has to offer on your first playthrough

Proteus deserves a 8/10 on my personal pretentious-bullshit-scale.

Throw your old dictionary out of the window - here comes another title that's questioning the definition of what a "game" is: "Proteus" is discovery at its finest. Explore, without any hand-holding whatsoever, the peaceful animal kingdom, the seemingly non-existant but actually enigmatic mechanics, and the surprising and mystical events that are to be found in this game. It's best not to read up too much about it beforehand and simply dive into the unknown to get the most of it. Just know this: it has no characters, plot, challenge, obstacles, levels, or bosses. It only has the mysterious environment of a musical adventure. ..... Also, randomly generated wilderness.
