This is the one Pokemon game (Pokemon X) I've sunk the most hours into, out of all the other's I've played.

oh man, returning to Y is like a breath of fresh air after Sun.
It's probably my favorite Pokemon game aesthetic, too.

Started a my first Nuzlocke run. 1 gym in and going well. That said, I did choose X because it's very easy at the start!

Editing … We've had a minor disaster. Lost Snare the Oddish to a fisherman's Shellder and its icicle spear, April the Trash Coat Wormodam to some Hiker's Lunatone and Verdalia the Meditie to Grant's Amaura. I'm distraught.

Editing … Aww, poor Snare. I would feel sorry for the other two, but I dunno what the hell those things are.

Editing … April and Snare were the biggest losses. Snare was the only one who knew Cut and April was Bug/Steel which is bloody useful typing. Ah well...

X&Y feels like the beginning of a new era. Finally making the transition to full 3D, seeing the large roster of Pokemon in with polygon models is the main attraction of the 3DS games. It took awhile, but it was worth the wait. Everything else about the game is a mixed bag. There are some big quality of life additions in the improved online trading and battling, and EV training that finally makes those values visible. Unfortunately, the story is a big step down from gen 5, featuring maybe the worst writing in the series, and the post game content is scant, especially compared to the great BW2. Also the XP share is given to you too early, making it easy to overlevel your Pokemon and making an already easy game a chore to slog through if you don't turn it off. Mega evolutions are an okay gimmick, but would rather have given real evolutions to Pokemon that need a boost, rather than more forms to ones that are already popular. There's good additions here, but not quite the whole package.

Just raised my score from a 5 to an 8.5. The first time I tried this, it was way too easy and I stopped after 5 badges. Starting over on a Nuzlocke completely rejuvenated the game. Due to the easy base of the game and the way exp share works, it wasn't tedious, or harder than other Pokemon games, but everything I did had weight and consequences. I was able to appreciate the pretty and impressive graphics, the setting, and the surprisingly emotional story late in the game. Snorlax, Lapras, Litleo, and Farfetch'd were my MVPs. This is the 4th Pokemon game I've beaten, and my favorite.

    My top 5 Pokemon games:
    1. X
    2. Black 2
    3. SoulSilver
    4. Yellow
    5. Emerald

    Next is probably Platinum.

Sure the combat may have been incredibly easy, and sure the pacing was a bit off (I like having large gaps between the badges. Makes it feel like an accomplishment), and sure, maybe the game lacked end-game content.
But playing dress-up with my Pokémon trainer is just too fun >w<
I look so cute in the overworld >w<

gosh i feel like a professional photographer with these photo spots >w<

Great job with Lumiose, Game Freak. Pokémon really needs more dense cities (some cities literally have less than 8 buildings), and the camera perspective in Lumiose really made exploring feel great.

Editing … I might need to go back to this. Think I had 3 badges left, but felt like I had my fill and put it down.

Pokémon X is what I would wholeheartedly call the definitive game in the franchise, and a must for any Pokémon fan; 3DS owner; or person with working arms, eyes and thumbs. And I’ve only scratched the surface. X and Y bring a plethora of tweaks and additions, from improved Online Connectivity to Pokémon-Amie, making the mechanics feel fresh, and more acutely fine-tuned than ever before.

After the success and turbulence of latter DS Pokemon games, X/Y needed to bring the series forward without losing what made it special. It succeeded. X/Y has flaws, but shows major leaps and innovations in the most important aspects of the series. The 3D world is an unexpectedly faithful jump from the 2D sprites, making the world seem more vibrant and beautiful than anything else in the series. Beauty in various forms seems to be the underlying theme of the game. Locations are designed so players can sit in a bench and watch the scenery, the NPC's are more generous and helpful than in prior games, small touches like giving tips for good service is included, and even the online component is improved by encouraging making friends through trades and battles and randomly trading Pokemon via Wonder Trade. That last small feature goes surprisingly far, as one will be surprised how generous strangers can be to each other. And that is X/Y in a nutshell.

Way too easy and bland. It wants to have that down to earth homey vibe but impress you and make your jaw drop at the same time, which is weird. It does look and sound pretty, but the Pokemon look kinda weird to me in 3D. Plus Lumiose City has awful controls. It is still Pokemon though so I can't say I dislike it. All the base elements still work. And the music for Santalune City is fucking tits.
