Is it realistically possible for me to create a romhack of Pokemon Trading Card Game for the GBC despite having no prior programming knowledge?

This video tells you how to hack the graphics in a Game Boy game. So maybe it is possible.

So Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow have just been released on 3DS Virtual Console with Pokemon Bank support. Which one(s) are you buying?

For me it was a toss-up between Red and Yellow, as I already played LeafGreen a few months ago. I was leaning towards Yellow as it actually supports color and is, y'know, the overall better version, but I already own that. So I decided to go with Red since I never beat the original Red/Blue.

Might still get Blue and Yellow later down the line. I know they're just selling you a ROM for 10 dollars/euros, but Pokemon Bank support, and the ability to trade these Pokemon into the current and next gen, is such a cool feature to have.

Editing … Oh, I just saw that the Pokemon can only be transferred to Sun/Moon, but not Gen 6. The site does mention they can't be "directly" transferred to Gen 6, so perhaps they can be moved to Sun/Moon and then back to Gen 6? That's kind of a bummer. I mean, surely they could've pushed the necessary updates in order to make them compatible, and it's not like this is a major selling point for Sun/Moon. But that's alright. It's still cool that we're able to move a Pokemon from a 20 y/o video game into the latest installment. http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-video-games/pokemon-bank/[#141854:Pokémon Sun and Moon]

Editing … Well, Sun/Moon aren't out yet so we can only speculate, but I imagine if you take your Pikachu from Yellow to Sun/Moon, it'll be randomly assigned a nature, gender, and whatever hidden stats weren't present 20 years ago. There probably won't be anything to distinguish it from a Pikachu caught in Sun/Moon, except for a note on the status screen. So it'll probably use a 3D model (likely the same as in Gen 6 -- I can't see them redoing all those assets), and yes, it can be used to battle in Sun and Moon.

Editing … Well, each new Pokemon installment has always had support for older Pokemon -- it's just that they might not be catchable without trading/importing. Black/White were really the only games that existed in their own little bubble, where you wouldn't encounter *any* old Pokemon until after you've beaten the league. They abandoned that with X/Y because they only added like 60 new Pokemon, and you could totally run into Pikachus within an hour of playing. The same could be true for Sun/Moon -- we don't know yet.

OK, so are remakes (as in totally different games with minor changes in gameplay and a completely different scenery and score which can be better or worse) not allowed on Favslist or something? Because that's going to be really disappointing.

God damnit, I hate limited item storage. "No more room for items." I cringe everytime I want to collect an item and this message pops up. In that case I have to go back to my item storage system and store items there. That's very annoying.

This Friday I'll play Pokémon for the first time ever in my life (red version for the GameBoy). I've already asked my friends tons of questions about Pokémon and I still don't quite understand the concept behind it. Maybe I will understand it when I play it. I hope it isn't as complicated as I think it is.

Editing … :) I completed my first Pokémon game (White 1) in 2013 and only a few weeks ago I played through my second game in the series (Yellow, which is basically a 'Goty' version of Red/Blue/Green). The games are pretty much straight forward and very linear. Make sure to print out a map and maybe consult a guide from gamefaqs if you get stuck, because the game can be quite obscure about where you have to go next sometimes. Anyway, have fun!

Editing … It's funny for a few minutes, but it's actually extremely boring to watch because of how long it takes them to make any progress. Also, I hate that regular twitch streamers have been losing followers because of this. The activity in that channel's chat is so high that it interferes with the chats site-wide, which has caused people to unsubscribe. And some of these guys make their livelihood on streaming.

Editing … I actually find it a lot more entertaining to watch when it's in democracy mode. Sure, it takes like 20 secs to tally up all the votes, but at least people are actually working together and getting shit done. I just wish more people would queue up directional inputs rather than moving 1 square at a time. Also, democracy mode never lasts long.
