And you can't do it over the internet, of course. I recently got my copy of White 2 and was pretty annoyed that I can't play through the game in Challenge Mode. Though looking at the changes on Bulbapedia, it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. But yeah, Game Freak/Nintendo/The Pokemon Company/Whoever's Fucking Responsible have always made poor design decisions that take away a lot of potential for fun out of the games, at least until Pokemon X/Y. Why do I always need to beat a gym before I can trade over Pokemon? Why can I not import Pokemon from Gen 3 to 4, or 4 to 5 until I've beaten the game? This can easily be circumvented by importing them into a different copy and trading them from there anyway. Why, when I do get to import my Pokemon, do I need to re-catch them in this shitty Safari Zone thing in Gen 4, and play a stupid pokeball throwing minigame in Gen 5? Why do I only get to import 6 Pokemon a day in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum? Why do I need to have seen a Pokemon before I can ask for it on the Global Trade Center? Why can I not turn on the chiptune soundtrack in HeartGold/SoulSilver until after I've beaten the game? Pokemon X/Y has basically fixed all of that. But why did it take so fucking long in the first place? Just let people have their fun.
