Took down Misty in three hits. I think using one Pokemon might be EASIER than using six. The game is flying by. I am worried about fight Pokemon though.

Editing … The first time I played Silver (my first Pokemon game) I only used Totodile, and yes, it's definitely easier than using the full 6. What Pokemon are you using? The speedrunners always use Nidoran. If you're still using Pikachu I imagine that'd be quite the challenge. You'll probably wanna teach it Submission, and ideally Surf as well if you're playing a physical copy and have Stadium. I suppose you could also trade it and evolve it into a Raichu.

Editing … Yeah, definitely not worth it to train up a team of 6 early game. Everything but your starter will be gone by end game lol

Editing … It's Ratatta, Demi. I'm doing the Joey challenge. @Steph, I generally have some of my early game non-starter Pokemon by end game, because towards the end even if I see good ones I don't want to grind them up and find great moves for them.

Editing … I did the same Demi, and because Totodile is water, he can learn most of the HM's that you need to proceed, like surf and waterfall. The only other pokemon of somewhat high level I had by the Elite Four were Ho-oh and that shiny Gyrados you catch on the lake :P

Editing … I always just picked the one I liked the look of :P I have played using all the starters in both Gen 1 and 2. But Cyndaquil is defo a favourite. I've chosen him in at least 5 of my playthroughs of Gold and only taken Totodile 3. Poor Chikorita only twice :P

I'm doing a Rattata run on Pokemon Yellow (the Joey challenge). Whoops, you're not supposed to let it evolve, which I did. But I'm having fun, so I'll continue. And I think Joey's Rattata evolves in Heartgold/Soulsilver anyway.

I've got the first badge. It was easier than I expected.

Editing … Aww man, I miss the days of doing challenges like this. I have to get back to my "Zidane solo" playthrough of #Final Fantasy IX I started years ago. I am on the 3rd disc.

A bit bare bones and short compared to some later games in the series, but streamlined and without much unnecessary features. I greatly prefer this to FireRed. It feels much more right with the 8 bit graphics and sound, which are quite charming. Although some little details would be improved later on, like being able to see what moves do, the formula was already quite solid and enjoyable.

Hm, I'm currently in Fuchsia City and just won my 5th badge. Gamefaqs tells me I need to "fly" to Celadon City next in order to progress, but my bird Pokémon doesn't have that ability. Both Route 18 and Route 7 are blocked because I don't have a bike or a drink for the thirsty guard near Saffron City. Help? How do I teach my Pokémon to fly?

Editing … You should be able to just head west out of Fuchsia through the gate that leads to the bike path. Ride up that (you will be going slowly because it's meant to be downhill) and then go east at the top. Celadon City is right there so you really don't even have to Fly, but I suggest using Cut on the nearby bush between the bike path and Celadon, going through that gate and talking to the girl in the house. Then she can teach your bird Fly. Makes travel way easier.

Editing … Oh, no bike? Sorry, missed that. You can also head east out of Fuchsia and follow that path northeast til you get to Lavender Town. West of Lavender Town is a gate that lets you go underground to get to Celadon City without going through Saffron. The underground path is inside a building just before the gate to Saffron. Still highly recommend going west of Celadon when you get a chance and teaching something Fly (explained how in the comment above)

Editing … No, Diglett's Cave is in Vermillion City. If you go West from Lavender Town, following the path past all of the trainers that you can fight, and you keep going, there's a gate that leads into Saffron. But before that, a little to the north, there's a building you can go into, go down some stairs, come out on the other side, and you'll come out on the other side of Saffron. Keep following that route to the West and you'll be in Celadon. After you access Saffron City a little later, I suggest also getting the Bike Voucher from the Pokemon Fan Club President in Vermillion City (you can just go North from Saffron instead of having to go through Rock Tunnel) so you can get a bike from the Bike Shop in Cerulean (at least, I think it's the same as Red/Blue in Yellow? Not entirely sure). The bike path to the west of Celadon has a lot of trainers that can help your team level up.

Editing … "Keep following that route to the West and you'll be in Celadon". I tried that yesterday, but there's a thirsty guard on Route 7 blocking my way. Apparently he will only let me go through to Celadon City if I give him something to drink.

Editing … Don't go through the gate that goes to Saffron. If you're in Lavender Town, you go West until you start to see that gate that leads to Saffron. But instead of going in there, you go North a little, into a different building. Go down the stairs in that building, follow the path, and you'll come out on the other side of Saffron. Once you're on the other side of Saffron, go to the left and Celadon will be there. Let me know if that still doesn't make sense, and I'll try to draw up a visual aid.

Even if it's the same Game. Yellow has soemthing that the other Version hasn't. And that is Pikachu with a Voice! It might sound gimmicky . But think about it....Pikachu with a Voice...

This is just about the most unique experience one can have in the Pokemon franchise. Taking source material from the HORRIBLE, AWFUL television show, Yellow Version opted to give players a new way to experience the Kanto adventure without taking away what made the original versions so great. It's easily the most challenging in the series, forcing players to expand their team before facing the first gym leader, as the mandatory starter Pikachu's attacks did not affect Brock's Geodude and Onix whatsoever. It's also the only title to allow players to obtain all three starters without a link cable and a friend. Re-spriting all 151 Pokemon and keeping that same beautiful gameplay and music, Yellow version is one of the best versions ever.
