Picked up a PSVR for $40 at a yard sale this past weekend. Turns out it was missing a cable though so I gotta wait for that to come in from eBay later this week. Then I can be a full on dork swinging my hands around in my basement.

Editing … I can't justify the price of VR but if we're talking the neighborhood of $40 not even I could say no. Hope you redeemed Astro Bot Rescue Mission and all those other VR titles when Sony was giving them away. As a huge fan of the genre I was really bitter when Sony released a heavily lauded 3D platformer like we were back in the PS2 era and I didn't have the means to play it. What are you going to be jumping into first?

Editing … Same, the hefty price tag has always kept me away. But yea I have been redeeming the PS+ VR titles that have been offered over the years so I've already got a few in library. I tried Walking Dead Saints and Sinners which seemed to be trying to do too much. Definitely not for me, lots of unholstered this change a clip, cock the gun, oh something jammed now I gotta jiggle this.

Editing … And the world was so drab and characters were throwing sad stories at me. Then I tried Tetris Effect which was just Tetris inside one of the music screensavers which also wasn't for me. Than I tried Dreams which was mostly levels that didn't need VR but the camera was VR. So that was dumb except one where I got to walk around a museum but the movement kinda ruined that. But then finally I got to Farpoint which was really cool, it looked good and felt good and actually felt like the VR added something to it. Played through the whole 8-10 hr campaign.

Editing … I do have Astrobot but haven't tried it yet. Overall the VR is interesting but reeks of early tech. I got a billion wires setup and the camera tracking is finicky, the resolution is low and blurry at times, the whole thing is quite heavy and cumbersome. Also I live in a house with family so anytime someone tries to talk to me it's a nightmare cause I have to remove this whole setup and then readjust everything when I come back. So it's like I can only play when no one is around which is almost never around here. It's cool but annoying all at the same time.

Editing … And the fact that I need 3 generations of Playstation tech to play everything. Got it hooked up to my PS5 but some games can use the Dualsense but then some use the Dualshock 4 with the light bar but then some require the PS3 Move Controllers... But that means I need to keep all these things charged and accessible but PS3 tech uses Mini USB, PS4 tech uses Micro USB and PS5 tech uses USB C so now my home is littered with gaming tech.

I'm just about ready to board the hype train. Driving games on this looks amazing and with both Driveclub and Gran Turismo coming for it then it but be enough to warrant a purchase.

Editing … The driving games are what looks the most compelling to me. I'm not convinced by the launch games but I have to try this to see what it is like. Hopefully we'll get better games eventually and real AAA titles taking advantage of VR. #Steep would be insane with this. And pretty much every simulator. Have any of you tried it out?

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida, or “Yosp” as many know him, along with Richard Marks join Geoff Keighley to discuss GDC’s big reveal, Project Morpheus. Find out why Sony is touting their VR headset as a device that can turn “dreams into reality,” and much more. What do you think of the device? Can VR make a comeback? Let us know below!

We all knew this was coming, but here it is. Sony's own VR headset for use with the PlayStation brand. As a future owner of the #PlayStation 4 with no intentions to build a gaming PC anytime soon, I'm personally more excited about this than the #Oculus Rift. Of course, it'd be unfortunate if Sony completely steals Oculus' thunder here, but hey, such is business. We've been hearing about the Oculus and how it's supposedly the greatest thing since sliced bread for like 2 years now, and yet the consumer version still isn't out yet. A little competition will be good for them. Anyway, who else is excited?

Editing … Well you know I am. After seeing bits of .Hack years ago when it first came out (and later SAO, which actually thinking about it Sony owns Aniplex who owns SAO :O) being able to do something like that literally became one of my biggest dreams. Im so excited! I guess a lot of people still think of it as a gimmick but I think its going to be the next big thing if they play their cards right. And competition is good for sure. But Im in the same situation as you where I don't plan to build some super PC (nor have the money to really) but have a PS4 so while Im still interested in Rift developments, Morpheus is more up my alley. Also come on, its named project Morpheus, how is that not awesome?

Editing … Not interested. I feel like an old fart because I don't like having to move to play a game. I don't like playing the Nintendo Wii for this reason, and I wouldn't like having to move my head to play a game either. I just like to sit back, kick up my feet, and veg.
