So fucking pissed right now. My PS4 Pro's HDD died. Like, actually died. I've tried it in several different devices and I can't even detect it through a BIOS.

So now what do I do? I don't know if hard drives are covered by warranty (even though they should considering I bought this system last November). And even if they're covered, how long would I have to wait? Days? Weeks? MONTHS?! You always have to send in the entire system as a policy. And do they even cover shipping?

ARGHHH! I don't know what to do. I could just order a new HDD right now and be back up and running tomorrow, but I really think it should be Sony's job to cover the costs.

Not to mention I just lost all my saves as I haven't had a PS+ subscription these past few months. There goes half my playthrough of FF7 which I finally restarted after all those years. At least it should only take like 2hrs to get back there with all the cheats turned on.

Editing … Well, I just went ahead and installed one of my girlfriend's old laptop terrabyte drives. I thought it might be too shitty to be of any use, but I see that the default drive is only 3 gigabit as well, and this one's only a couple years old with little use. Perhaps if I have some PS4 downtime in the coming months (gonna be difficult...) I'll try a warranty claim. But I'm gonna have to do some research on the subject first, as I really don't really like the idea of getting someone else's "refurbished" unit sent back. Even if this thing does run very hot and might've been the cause for the drive failure...

Editing … 2:30 hours into FF7 and just got to Junon with Yuffie in tow. Should've been faster, but eh, I can't help but having to talk to everyone so I don't miss any items. Finishing a quarter of the game in just 2.5 hours is still pretty good, though. Unfortunately I did lose a few hundred hours worth of RPG completion/new game+ saves, and I lost my Dragon Quest Heroes save that was 3 missions removed from the end. So that'll forever be a black mark on my backlog, as I'm not gonna go back to play this bait-and-switch tower defense game. Ah well, back up your saves, kids.

Y'know, it feels pretty shitty having spent the full 400 euros on the Pro a little over a month ago, and seeing the Slim down to 230 everywhere I look. Sure, it's the 500gig version and not the terrabyte version, but whatever.

I don't regret the purchase, but Sony's entire handling of the product has been shitty. Why are all the limited edition consoles based on the Slim? Why is the Slim the only one to get price drops? They're making a terrible case for the Pro. I played through inFamous: First Light at 60fps a few days ago which felt AMAZING, but it's one of like... what, 4 games to have a 60fps option?

Meanwhile, WTF is Nintendo doing still selling the Wii U for 300 bucks? How is that thing still more expensive than the Xbox One and PS4? Why are there no sales yet? Clock's ticking, Nintendo. If it doesn't happen soon, I won't have much reason to get one since everything on the Wii U will end up on the Switch anyway. I suppose they don't care as the system has stopped production already.

Editing … Eh, some of those don't belong. PS Vita TV is a fine system if it suits your needs (especially now that it's hackable). I actually started using it more since I got a PS4 Pro, as having both systems connected by ethernet makes for a damn near flawless remote play experience. On my Vita it can get quite bad though despite sitting right next to the modem (and don't even think about doing a direct connection to the PS4 -- it's far worse than using a wireless modem). PSP Go was a shit system at the time of its release because it didn't have full game support, but these days it doesn't matter as you can just drop ISOs onto it. I still hope to pick one up someday (along with a GB Micro...). However, 3D support, move controllers, and now seemingly VR... It's kind of a bummer how Sony can go so big on a new trend and then drop it almost immediately after launch. I once thought PS VR was gonna be the system-seller for me. Now I'm not sure anymore that I'll ever get one.

Editing … Ugh, one little edit and it's blackslash city. What the hell, @Papissama? Anyway, I don't think PS Vita TV and remote play really needed support. I haven't encountered a game that didn't support remote play (even the MMOs I downloaded do), and PS Vita TV is just a Vita that hooks up to a TV.

Editing … You could make a case for the Vita itself though (not gonna edit). When they got up on stage and basically said things were gonna be different this time around, I believed them. I didn't know how they were gonna do it, but surely they thought of a plan. And then it just turned into a PSP2. Which is fine, as I mostly play Japanese games anyway.

Q: Will I need to pay to update my existing PS4 game with new PS4 Pro features?

A: While nothing specifically prevents publishers and developers from this, we don’t anticipate it at this time. Software updates enabling PS4 Pro features on any existing first-party title (such as inFamous First Light or Uncharted 4) will be free.

List of games that will be updated for PS4 Pro launch has been revealed:

    https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2016/11/03/heres-the-list-of-games-that-will-be-optimised-for-ps4-pro-on-launch-day/

I just bought Shadow of Mordor GOTY myself, so it's nice to see that's on there even if it's already 2 y/o. Other than that nothing I'll be buying anytime soon.

FF15 is listed under "games to feature PS4 Pro support by the end of the year," so I really hope Square Enix doesn't fuck this up and not have a patch ready on release day, but knowing them they will. That's a huge bummer as that means I'll never see the benefits of the Pro on that game. Well, not until they release FF15 International where they turn the combat into Kingdom Hearts and make all 4 characters playable.

    Anyhow
    Sony
    c'mon
    what's up wit you
Considering Sony had a hand in the development of bluray, you'd expect them to be able to afford the upgrade for even less.

When the PS3 had a bluray player next to the 360, that was like
    "woah
look who done and gone won the format war
I just got me a sick ass bluray player, yo"

"but yo housekey you can still watch 4K Netflix"
Please stop talking like that, you've never addressed me as Housekey.
How many movies are in 4K on Netflix? Lots of new movies are, for whatever reason, not even 1080p on Netflix. Sure, you can watch House of Cards, and hopefully Orange is the New Black (is it 4K?), but what about America's favorite classic, Goosebumps?
    Oh, no
That's not even in HD on Netflix.

Is Sony pushing digital sales? Because I can't imagine PSN is anyone's go-to platform for film purchases.
"Gee, I'm in the mood for some Labyrinth. Heck, I'll head right over to my favorite movie shopping mart right now! No, not Amazon Prime Video, nuh-uh, not VUDU either, silly! Golly, I'm talking about the PlayStation Store!"
I've seen some old complaints about users only being able to download their PSN movies twice, then being unable to redownload. I would hope that's been fixed since then.

    Oh, that's a long post.
