Saved!I can't believe I totally forgot the PS3 could output component and play PS1 discs with smoothing. Been jumping through hoops trying to get things on my CRT and it was right there all along.
-
Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … It's not always that easy remembering these things that you set up or evaluate once and then never think about again. I keep running into similar problems when setting up projects and configuring apps on my new laptop.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … Oh yeah. The og ps3 could do that indeed. I just use my ps2. I don't care about the ugly. On a related note I recently got another wii for cheap but when I got it home I saw it had no gamcube ports..... Why? That's the stupidest thing you could do. It looks like the regular wii as well so it's easy to be fooled.
-
Saved!Sir LaroseninEditing … Mine is always plugged into both TVs so I can easily switch between the two outputs as needed
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Yea, I played Resident Evil Director's Cut on the PS5 which had some smoothing. Then I put up RE2 on an emulator and it looked like garbage cause my hardware tanks anytime I try to use shaders and such...so then I thought oh I have a PSOne Classic version of RE2 on my PS3 but that also look like crap on the QLED. So then I just bought the PS1 game off Ebay to play it on the CRT via original PS1. Which I'm currently doing... but I could've just played the PSOne classic on the PS3 on the CRT which looks great. One day I hope to have all my systems setup and ready to play....but currently I do a lot of swapping.
-
Saved!Sir LaroseninEditing … I have 17 systems hooked up on two TVs side by side, and most importantly, you would never guess that number at a glance
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … There still isn't a true replacement for crt's. Games that were made in that era just look best on a crt. I have 2 tv's on rolling carts. one is a crt. I think the crt has an n64, snes and nes hooked up right now. I played vagrant story on my flat-screen and it was pretty ugly compared to the way it looks on crt but I was too lazy to roll over the fat tv so I just let the game be ugly. Still very pretty game at the core. I refuse to finish earthbound on anything else than my crt though. I want the game to fry my eyes. That's the only authentic experience.
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Your living the dream man. And yea Klem, I like my CRT and prefer it for old games but sometimes I just let the things be ugly for convenience.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … convenience is so powerful. It makes me lazy. But it's also nice to see things larger so I can lie down and still see what I am doing.
-
Saved!Sir LaroseninEditing … It's an old picture, the the OG Xbox or the N64 are cropped out on the right, and some systems are hidden behind the TVs, but here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FSKQsvjS_nkfo4gl8vfIc60YOk82mgUI/view?usp=drive_link
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … I got a similar look but three TVs cause my niece uses the one for her Wii. But cords run every which way including some long cords I'll just run through the middle of the room if I need to lol. Cause my computer and PS3 are on the other side of the room. It's a mess.

Saved!I downloaded RPCS3 yesterday to try it out. I do have a strong PC, but Call of Duty Modern Warfare was perfect and running at full speed. This is good news, now I don't have to dig out my PS3 and install games and stuff, I can just play on PC!
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … Gran Turismo has a few issues too, but it's very promising. At least I can play Cod
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I still have my PS3, I was thinking of hooking it up just to photo/video my cars in racing games. Which probably sounds very strange.
-
Saved!Does any site have a list of games that utilize the analog face buttons?
(PS2 and PS3 face buttons don't just register on/off, they're pressure-sensitive)
All I can think of is MGS3.-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … MGS2, Gran Turismo 3, Ace Combat 5, and I would assume every racing game. (Who is going to bother checking every racing game for the one or two that don't use it.)
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … I was thinking about checking it, but...did anyone really enjoy using those analog buttons? I had a hard enough time getting Snake to take his finger off the trigger of his gun. All thanks to that stupid analog button (grumble grumble).
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Make no mistake about it, pressure sensitive buttons were a terrible idea. Probably not a single game used them well enough to justify their existence while many games were damn near ruined as a result.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … ...'nuff said. MGS3 literally gets a pass because it's got all that Hideo Kojima depth in it. But analog face buttons still suck, imo.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … MGS3 had to change how the hostage system worked for 360 and 3DS because of that. Which games were nearly ruined by the pressure sensitive buttons?
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Oh, I completely forgot about the analog CQC fistfight functions in MGS3. Now I really need to try out those controls...
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … I actually haven't played many of the analog face button games. Supposedly Wipeout HD used it, but I can't imagine using analog on any racing game that isn't Gran Turismo...
-
Nodley wrote his opinion about PlayStation 3Saved!The best of it's generation, just like it's father and grandfather before it.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Thing is, I don't think people fully realized its power until the end of the console's lifespan. Or at least I didn't realize it until then. Missed out on free Internet gameplay for two years.

-
Saved!Playstation 3 games I still ought to try: Atelier Rorona Plus, Deadly Premonition, Catherine, Mirror's Edge, and maybe The Legend of Heroes: Trials of Cold Steel.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … There's exactly one good game in that list and I ain't tellin no secret when I say it's none of that Japanese crap
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I really enjoyed Catherine, but it got a little too hard for me. I'm not great at games.
-
-
Saved!I am thinking about getting a PS3 so I could play some Griescore. What non-Griescore games are actually good for the system?
-
Saved!271072aEditing … Like exclusives to sony. I haven't played any sony games last gen. Are the HD collections good?
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … A PS3 is essential in playing the MGS series! With PS1 backwards compatibility (or PSN), you can play the MGS1 disc or digital copy--and MGS2, 3, PW were remastered for PS3/360. However, MGS4 is exclusive to PS3. MGS Legacy Collection includes 1-4 + PW. Also, MGS3 includes Metal Gear 1 & 2, if you want those :p
-
Saved!271072aEditing … MGS 4 is one of the games I was thinking about. Is Journey/Flower really that great?
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Oh, and the remastered games perform better on PS3, and utilize the PS3's pressure sensitive buttons (light presses having a different impact from a hard push)
-
Saved!Top 10 Playstation 3 Games I have yet to play:
1. #Beyond: Two Souls.
2. #Dragon's Dogma.
3. #Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
4. #Journey.
5. #inFAMOUS.
6. #Ōkami.
7. #Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
8. #Eternal Sonata.
9. #Steins;Gate.
10. #White Knight Chronicles.-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I like Journey, Infamous, and Okami okay. All my high school friends loved Eternal Sonata but I didn't get it.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Journey's extremely pretty. Dunno if I'd ever give it a second run though. It's not what I'd call fun. More of a showcase for how fucking awesome sand can look.
-
Saved! The PS3 has 1000+ titles and I've only completed 42 of them :P Welp, guess I suck then, haha
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … It might have 1000+ titles, whether it has 1000+ titles worth playing is a lot more doubtful though.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Exactly. Take away the chaff and the number is much less. It's an abstract number, but definitely much less than 1000.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I've played much more than 42 of course :P But in my lifetime, I've only beaten around 147 titles across all systems
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … hmm, just now I checked my backloggery and it says I've beaten 201. (across all systems)
-
Saved!Travis GreenEditing … I've beaten maybe 10-20 PS3 games at most, lol! Got it so close to the end of that console gen for a few specific exclusives, after mostly using a 360 for a while.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I've beaten Fallout 3, Far Cry 3, Skyrim, Sleeping Dogs, Red Dead Redemption, Persona 4 Arena, and Journey. So that's 7.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Don't really feel like going through the minutia of figuring out which games I've beaten, but I will tell you I have 40 platinum trophies. Yeesh, no wonder my jeans feel tight these days.
-
Saved! They remove useless features, too. It's not always bullshit, I guess.
-
Alec Smith wrote his opinion about PlayStation 3Saved!The PS3 is a really good single player platform. It's exclusive library of single player games is really entertaining and the free online for the multiplayer games is an advantage if you don't want to pay premium for online gameplay on the xbox systems and the ps4. my problems with this system are the slow download speeds online and the ports that are generally hindered by ps3's complicated cell processors.
