Editing … I beat the demo and it was super cute, I like the new characters, but the gameplay only registered as an "eh" to me. It was kind of a chore to play not to mention confusing.

Editing … I would be more hyped about this game if they released it years ago. Now it feels like a real-time-strategy fossil from the last decade. Still plays well, but it's old...

Editing … Doesn't matter when it came out, I think. At the end of the day you'll have take off the plastic and sit down and actually play through it, at which point the experience is fundamentally the same as playing an older game. So all that matters is how it plays. (Unless you're saying you've played it before on the Wii U, then yeah, not much sense in doing it all over again.)

Editing … But man, seven years is still too long for a Pikmin. The graphics aren't that advanced. The launch trailer still shows flat polygons for the ground. So I have no clue what took the developers so long.

Well it just wouldn't be Nintendo if they didn't port a 7 year old game 3 years too late and charge full price for it when Pikmin 3's assets looked like an HD port of Pikmin 2.

I'm still excited to play it. I've literally waited half my life for more Pikmin.

I'm flabbergasted what a total failure this game is, its just riddled with design flaws. I... I just can't comprehend how awful pikmin 3 truly is.

Fuck this game and everyone responsible for its creation.

Editing … I've played games my entire life now, and couldn't even beat level 3 (!) of this game. The entire game is one giant time based mission, so you're constantly on the edge of your seat, trying to rush through it, which completely defies the principles this game is/should be based on: exploration and relaxation. Both control schemes are HORRIBLY unintuitive. You can only throw one pikmin at a time, which is absolutely tedious.

Editing … When I finally did beat the boss on level 3, time ran out and all my pikmin died. Game over? Nope, the game doesn't give a shit and generously makes you play the next level with one (ONE!) pikmin. How fucked up is that? I had 83 pikmin at the start of level 2 and now I'm forced to beat an even harder level with even less pikmin? So I'm punished, because I'm simply not good enough? Shouldn't it be the other way around? How about you make the game slightly easier, when I'm struggling, instead of harder? Ever heard of adaptive difficulty, you dick?

Editing … Having only played the first one...that's exactly how Pikmin is and should be. You have to do things quickly, given the context of the story, and with that concept the player should feel the stress and hurry of the main character. Not only was Pikmin 1 successful at doing that, it was also pretty generous considering you could beat the game in just 9 days of the given 30 :P

Editing … Even when I knew exactly what to do in a mission (cause I basically had to replay it several times in order to stand a chance in the later levels, see above), the time you're given to complete a level is simply too short. Having to heavily rely on a walk-through guide, because Nintendo's employees suck at game design, is not my kind of fun. Pikmin 3 - like may other Nintendo exclusives (eg. New super Mario bros u and donkey Kong country returns, among others) left me feeling anxious, angry, confused and upset. There's a good game buried beneath all of these dumb design decisions, but to get there you have to put up with too much bullshit and that's not what videogames should be about.

Editing … Can't remember exactly what would happen in that situation if it were Pikmin 1, but i'm sure you'd return to the ship with the same number of living Pikmin you had plus the ones stored in the Pikmin pods. And calm down dude, yes i've heard of adaptive difficulty but since I haven't played 3 I can't comment on it. As for the time, again you are supposed to feel the stress of the main character and giving you full space to stop and think, and giving you direction on what to do next and how to do it, would be contradictory to the game's fundamental goal (like Majora's Mask). Again most of what i'm saying rings true for Pikmin 1, but if 3 is anything like it maybe I should try it out someday.

Editing … So, I'm on day/level 4 now, right? Take this for an example: http://m.ign.com/wikis/pikmin-3/Day_4_-_Garden_of_Hope. "Use Day 4 as a "Clean Up Day." return to the Garden of Hope and gather the remains of the boss you defeated on Day 3. Take a large contingent of Pikmin and carry the Boss, Fruit, and Cell Phone. "... After the boss fight of level 3, I don't have enough pikmin left to do this!! So I'm shit out of luck. God, this game is bad.

I do love Pikmin. There’s something magical about launching minute critters into a puddle, only to hear their tortured screams, as they drown, horribly and painfully. Ah. How relaxing.

The best RTS game in console history. Pikmin 3 is more similar to the first game than the second, but borrows much of the latter game's scale. Players have to juggle three explorers between foraging for food, building a Pikmin army, exploring the world, solving puzzles, defeating enemies, and advancing the plot. Building a stockpile of food is urgent, but will give players time to collect every bit of treasure in the world's various areas. Both the GamePad and Wii controls are a major step up from the GameCube's, providing a real-time interactive map and more precision respectively. AI is improved, but is still limited enough to make Pikmin constantly vulnerable. The Pikmin types, new and old, are rebalanced and fun to use. Bosses are a great mix between testing Pikmin knowledge and player skill. Speedrun leaderboards are supported, and there are good multiplayer modes. Only the lack of campaign coop holds Pikmin 3 back.

I started playing this game last weekend. I got it free some months ago with Mario Kart 8 and didn't gave it a chance, I thought I would not like it. But I was wrong, it's a pretty good game so far.
