Happy 50th, my sweet! Pet Sounds, to this day, is one of the most perfectly crafted and influential records in history. It's imprint on pop music is so strong that it can still be seen prominently today. Even with so many albums trying to build off of Wilson's sound, there has yet to be an album that captures Pet Sounds's essence as perfectly as Pet Sounds. Its colorful, imaginative, and deliciously vivid arrangements do wonders to support Wilson's sincere, melancholic lyricism. Every nook and cranny of this album feels so lively and complete, as its meticulousness perfectly crafts the album's distinct, rich, exotic atmosphere. While I may have very few personal beefs with certain spots on this album, I can appreciate it all for one reason or another. The weight of this album is so astronomical and overwhelming that it's hard to capture it in words, but that just shows even further how Pet Sounds really embodies the spirit of music. Sometimes, it's better to just sit back and listen.

    Score: 9.0 (Fantastic!)
