Frame-rate issues aside, Perfect Dark is possibly the greatest console shooter ever made. Or at least, the best pre-Halo console shooter. And even then, it'd still rank up there. Perfect Dark had so many amazing ideas, like bots and counter-operative mode, and even though some of the ideas weren't used to the maximum potential, it still blows my mind how ahead of the game Rare was. Perfect Dark has nearly endless replay-ability. The amount of things to do in the single player is stunning and the the multiplayer has so many customization options that it's nigh-impossible to get bored. The game's weapon selection is also one of the greatest in any FPS. Secondary functions, the ability to shoot through walls and a 1HKO are only some of the weapon options presented to you. In a better world, Perfect Dark would sit alongside the likes of Halo, Goldeneye and Doom as one of the most fondly remembered FPS games but as it stands, it'll have to settle for the seat below that.

Absolutely mindblowing for its time. Such a fantastic first few hours I had, and I doubt I will ever experience anything like it.

I probably played Perfect Dark more than any other game in my lifetime. The multiplayer was played every weekend for many hours, for a few years strait. It was the quintessential multiplayer title within my circle of friends. Goldeneye was first, sure, but it didn't have bots. They were the magic element that made Perfect Dark so much irresistible fun.

Amazing game, still playable to this day. It expands on goldeneye's gameplay and makes it even better. Single player is fun, and multiplayer never gets old, even when you are playing against the bots. The graphics are without a doubt some of the best on the n64, possibly only beaten by Conker's Bad Fur Day, and the techno music is cool. Game lovers should have no problem finding this since it's pretty common for a game of its age.

Score: 9.0 (Fantastic!)
