A personal computer is a general-purpose computer, whose size, capabilities, and original sale price makes it useful for individuals, and which is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer operator. This contrasted with the batch processing or time-sharing models which allowed larger, more expensive minicomputer and mainframe systems to be used by many people, usually at the same time. Large data processing systems require a full-time staff to operate efficien... View more [Wikipedia]

Maybe spending 2 grand on a PC isn't really worth it considering
    - I'm only playing indie games and the occasional sim on PC anyway
    - having no PC allows me to focus my attention on my other hobbies and or consoles

Sandy Vich I meant mouse/keyboard and worded it badly, but yes, much greater options for remapping keys is another big plus, though ironically I'd much prefer that versatility for console gamepads.

Husky Wing Yeye I feel you hun. Steam\'s integrated that controller feature (first Steam Controller, then DS4, not sure if the options for other controllers are out yet)

Husky Wing But in the future, consoles should adopt something like the Xbone Elite, incorporate rebinding as well.

My desktop would make even the most hardened PC enthusiast weep

Sandy Vich My desktop has a whopping 12 items on it, and I could probably delete half of them.

Gries He There are seven on mine; I like to keep it simple.

wait wait wait. I could, like, get a pc from alternate.de but without a GPU and simply plug in the GTX660 from my alienware x51, right?

Husky Wing (and so long as it's compatible with the mobo on the new PC)

Dr Eggnog We live in a time period where this is not gibberish.

Gries He Furthermore, I could re-use my dvd drive and Windows 7 installation disk in order to save even more money!

maybe I should spend a fortune on a new PC. Maybe I shouldn't.
But I'm going to do it anyway, probably.

Gries He Frankly speaking I don't really see the need for upgrading my PC (yet). What else could I possibly gain from spending two grand on sth that I couldn't achieve on my GTX 660? I mostly play indie games anyway..

Fuck yeah. I just saved myself €1800

Not Important We went to Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Morocco, pretty much every place in Europe, the US, and Uruguay. Axersia well it was the dying wish of my wife so to me it didn't really seem that much of a waste.

Richard Pale Sounds like the best use of savings I've heard about in a long while. I hope you both loved it.

    SilverStone SST-ML09B
    SilverStone ML06B

Gries He That thing looks ridiculous and is the opposite of what I want, but thanks anyway. FYI, here's a gtx 1070 node 202 setup that you were so sure of would totally "not gonna work dude": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmASlZQzjb0 Suit yourself, breh

Demi Axersia I know it'll fit, that's not the issue. The reason consoles work is because tons and tons of R&D went into designing everything with that specific hardware in mind, and even then they fuck up (see: Xbox 360). If you're gonna assemble your own PC, it's up to you to make sure your build isn't gonna run into issues later down the line. Again, wouldn't personally put a gaming PC into a case that small, but it's entirely up to you.

Waluigifan ! Airflow is also an important thing. You want a case with good airflow. Otherwise you will run into cooling issues. Which results in worse performance / lifetime of your components.

"reboot and select a proper boot device"

That's all there is on screen when I put a USB thimbstick with Windows 10 on it into my computer.

Demi Axersia Have you tried pressing F12 and selecting USB from there?

    Gries He USB what?

Demi Axersia If you hit F12 on boot, it should list your your USB stick there.

My OS has finally gone to shit and now my alienware x51 won't turn on anymore
and I'm too stupid to install Windows 10 on a bootable USB stick, so fuck my life

Husky Wing PS4 Skyrim supports "mods." It can't utlize ANY custom assets, including textures, sounds, and scripts. This means that 99% of mods are not compatible with the system. I could mod in, say, godmode, but not much else at all. I've already modded SSE on PC, but not a single one of the mods I'm using would be compatible with the PS4 release.

Husky Wing Someone will probably try to mod in a full city into the PS4 release, using only in-game assets, but they won't be able to populate the city, as that would require the use of scripts.

Demi Axersia Fine, then use a PC-based cloud service instead of PS4 Remote Play. Whatever it takes to not have to install Windows on your own device. Here's one that caters specifically to gamers that has an Android app: https://liquidsky.tv/ Problem solved.

Not Important Detective Gries! I want you on the case RIGHT NOW

Demi Axersia I wouldn't trust a case that small to house a modern high-end gaming PC, no matter what their little comparison table claims. It'd make for a good home theater PC, though.
