A personal computer is a general-purpose computer, whose size, capabilities, and original sale price makes it useful for individuals, and which is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer operator. This contrasted with the batch processing or time-sharing models which allowed larger, more expensive minicomputer and mainframe systems to be used by many people, usually at the same time. Large data processing systems require a full-time staff to operate efficient

Saved! The Verge made PC build video, and... oh no... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaDX2HsFvNA

Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vmQOO4WLI4
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Deleted by himself
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … they disabled comments on a TUTORIAL VID?? this isn't the same situation as an Anita vid or High Guardian Spice, your bullshit could cause someone to ruin their PC.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … we could email Capital One to withdraw any further support :p
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … ...That's a ton of thermal paste...
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … They finally pulled it, but not without crying harassment https://i.imgur.com/oOFYRiN.jpg
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … and not without writing an article about how terrible youtubers are (but I'm not gonna help them get the clicks)
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … I enjoyed watching the experts point out all the horrible mistakes. The part with the thermal paste cracked me up, though. A huge glob just magically appears and I'm like, huh?
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … here's another good one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LERCwH3F474 he says that the guy building the pc is not the same person who edited the video and it shows
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I like him pointing out the ridiculous claim about cost. I've literally seen someone built a gaming PC that was way more capable than an Xbox One X (true 4K in cases where the X has to upscale) for less than $500.
-
-
Saved! That moment when changing the boot order bricks your operating system and none of the solutions on the Internet work except "re-install Windows".
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … I am aware of it, no need to remind me you piece of shit. Was able to fix the PC yesterday. My ugliness could never be fixed as it's genetic. Going through painful surgeries (face surgery, hair transplant, eye lasering, leg lengthening) might improve my looks from subhuman to 4/10 normie though.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I swear to god Waluigi, of you never upload a picture, i'll be really disappointed. I refuse to believe you are this subhuman butt ugly troll that you seem determined to paint yourself as.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … Also, I'd like to point out that I am very handsome, my new girlfriend is very into me, and my life is fantastic all around and full of fun and interesting activities. Just so you know
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … Sounds good Gries. I too find a little delusion to be good for the soul
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … And I'm the greatest writer to ever graced this world. Here, check this short story I wrote to tease you all about my hability and upcoming novels
-
Saved!I just cleaned the innards of my PC. Man, there was so much dust in there, it was quite scary. I should clean my PC every month instead of two times every year. I also implemented my brother's Blu-Ray drive. Works like a charm! This is the first time I actually did something all by myself on my rig. I'm so proud of me!
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … One time I was about to clean the inside of our old PC (since we were upgrading the memory anyway so I thought now would be a good time) and my dad was like no you'll spread all the dust around to the other components. It was an oddly compelling argument and so I left the PC dirty. o.o
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … Well, I used an air compressor (4-5 bar) to blow the dust out of the case. It worked really well.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I built my old PC without knowing a single thing. It was easy, it's just plug and play almost.
-
-
Saved!Maybe spending 2 grand on a PC isn't really worth it considering
- I'm only playing indie games and the occasional sim on PC anyway
- having no PC allows me to focus my attention on my other hobbies and or consoles-
Saved!Splatterhouse 5Editing … Whenever I think "2 Grand", I personally think of something more substantial than a PC. What I get out of a PC is something that I value much less than 2 grand. Of course, what people put their value in is different for everyone, but when I start thinking of 2 grand worth of disposable money, I start thinking about that relaxing vacation that I feel that I'm long overdue for. When it comes to gaming, I get what I need out of a $300 console. I'm not a stickler for $2000 perfection when $300 feels fun enough.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Plus we're at the point where you can outperform a PS4 Pro with just $500. 4K resolution's easy shit now, but even sub-1080p AAA PS4 games (actually, plenty indies too, but that's just due to horrible devs) will struggle to keep just 30 frames. Meanwhile, a "bad port" on PC = "I can't max this out at 60fps at the moment." It's a pretty comfortable place to be.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … When it looked like this console generation was going to be a repeat of the 7th in terms of performance, I decided to go all in on a sexy rig. A lot of HD remasters on PS4 like GTA V and Assassin's Creed don't even target 60 fps. I also have no plans to buy a 4K TV anytime soon so the Pro's half-assed push for 4K feels like a huge waste of energy that could be better spent on performance. Even if that weren't the case, I can barely tell the difference between 1080p and 4K, and I have pretty sharp eyes. Hell, I played the Nioh demo at 720p for better performance (an option more games should have btw) and by a country mile it was easier on the eyes than the 30 fps 1080p option. Plus PCs have all the other amenities 1) All the everyday and business uses a computer has 2) Porn 3) Free multiplayer 4) The most affordable storefronts (Steam, Humble Bundle etc) 5) Porn 6) The absolute best control scheme for shooters, strategy games and many others 7) The best modding support by an enormous margin 8) In game graphical settings to tweak to your preferences that not even Nioh come close to matching 9) Zany indie titles that never come to console 10) Did I mention porn? Personally speaking a good PC makes every weekend feel like a "relaxing vacation."
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … 6 could apply to every game, considering you can use any control scheme you want, too. Also, my current average cost per PC game is $1.07. I keep track :p
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I meant mouse/keyboard and worded it badly, but yes, much greater options for remapping keys is another big plus, though ironically I'd much prefer that versatility for console gamepads.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Yeye I feel you hun. Steam's integrated that controller feature (first Steam Controller, then DS4, not sure if the options for other controllers are out yet)
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … But in the future, consoles should adopt something like the Xbone Elite, incorporate rebinding as well.
-

Saved!Me when watching pc hardware videos on YouTube :

Saved! My desktop would make even the most hardened PC enthusiast weep :P
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … Images, videos, text files and folders all scattered haphazardly across the entirety of the desktop :p
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … As do I :p But when I need to find stuff quickly, I find it more helpful to dump it on the desktop.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … My desktop has a whopping 12 items on it, and I could probably delete half of them.
-
Saved!wait wait wait. I could, like, get a pc from alternate.de but without a GPU and simply plug in the GTX660 from my alienware x51, right?
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … So long as your Alienware is upgradeable and doesn't solder the hardware in.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … Furthermore, I could re-use my dvd drive and Windows 7 installation disk in order to save even more money!
-
-
Saved!https://www.alternate.de/html/configurator/builder/loadSharedConfiguration.html?kind=pcBuilder&id=1656d5d54d2cd68f5b60fe294bcee05f
maybe I should spend a fortune on a new PC. Maybe I shouldn't.
But I'm going to do it anyway, probably.-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … Frankly speaking I don't really see the need for upgrading my PC (yet). What else could I possibly gain from spending two grand on sth that I couldn't achieve on my GTX 660? I mostly play indie games anyway..
-
-
Saved!Fuck yeah. I just saved myself €1800
:D-
Saved!Not ImportantEditing … I've spent almost 300 000€ in the last eight months. #moneyaintathing
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … 300k in 8 months? Seems like a waste. I would've taken that money and lived like royalty somewhere in Southeast Asia.
-
Saved! Not ImportantEditing … We went to Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Morocco, pretty much every place in Europe, the US, and Uruguay. @Axersia well it was the dying wish of my wife so to me it didn't really seem that much of a waste.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … Sounds like the best use of savings I've heard about in a long while. I hope you both loved it.

Saved!Fractal Design NODE 202
SilverStone ML05B
SilverStone SST-ML09B
SilverStone ML06B-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … I think I found my new PC case: the Node 202, which is just 5 cm wider and 3 cm deeper than my alienware x51 https://www.alternate.de/Fractal-Design/NODE-202-Desktop-Geh%C3%A4use/html/product/1208640?
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … For what purpose do you keep looking at these small ITX cases? Because they're not meant for gaming PCs. If you do decide to build one, go big or go home, otherwise it's not even worth the upgrade. Were you planning on transplanting your Alienware innards into the new case? Your Alienware PC does use ITX, yes, but since the I/O plate is part of the case, you'd be left with a big hole in the back of your new case, unless you manage to find an aftermarket I/O plate or cut it out of the Alienware case. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd also run into other issues, as that's often true for mass-produced small-form factor PCs. They're not built to tinker with.
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … If you go to Google Images and type in "ITX GTX 1070 PC," you'll find that all of those builds use cube cases and not that slim clearly-meant-for-a-home-theater-PC case of yours.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … so? I want a case that looks like a console, i.e. similar to my alienware x51; the node 202 by fractal design is not just a htpc case btw
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … For your purposes, you should probably look into the #Skull Canyon NUC. Slick piece of hardware.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … That thing looks ridiculous and is the opposite of what I want, but thanks anyway. FYI, here's a gtx 1070 node 202 setup that you were so sure of would totally "not gonna work dude": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmASlZQzjb0 Suit yourself, breh
