    Aramonde made me do it.

...did someone else ever convince you check out a game that was outside your "comfort zone"?

Editing … Unikgamer made me try Persona 3 and 4 and I had no interest in playing some goddamn anime garbage at that time but here I am today with both games in my Top 5.

Editing … It's because of Unikgamer that I bought NIER and it's my favorite game of all time and it's because of Favslist that I d/l Katawa Shoujo and was pleasantly surprised. Also bought Muramasa, because of Firion's praise.

Mortal Kombat is a long running series. It's also my favorite fighting game series, so when I made this list I had to include one. Would I include Mortal Kombat II, which refined everything and brought the series into stardom? How about Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, which balanced a lot of things but included the godforsaken run button? Mortal Kombat Deception, which is the best 3D MK game and is a great deal of fun even today?

However, it was the 2011 reboot to the series that gets it. Loads of unique, interesting characters, adding the super bar ala Street Fighter, and a speed that is just right. I don't think any other Mortal Kombat can hold even a kandle to this game.

Is it possible to love a game that you get immensely frustrated at? Apparently yes. Mortal Kombat is the most legitimate fighter in the entire franchise. Every character has something to offer, meaning that you won't want to stick to one character for long. The Arcade mode was actually intriguing and enticed you to play, which is the first time I've been so interested in a single-player campaign in a fighting game since the Subspace Emissary. But the fighting is where everything clicked. While balance is something that can't be achieved in a fighting game, MK9 got as close as the genre has possibly gotten to having no cheap characters. The visuals are excellent and the fatalities are absolutely gorgeous. Easily my favorite in the series.

It can't be compared to the heavyweights of the genre yet but the series took a big step in the right direction with this release. While it's not quite there in terms of depth, it is a blast to play with friends. All of the classic characters are back and there's a decent variety of playstyles.Overall it's just a great love letter to the series classic days. It's good to have a healthy MK again!

This game should be shown to other developers, so they could see how to treat their fans. After all the stumbles this series has seen, the devs really had their work cut out for them. But this game is a triumph. I won't even try to defend that this game sports the best fighting system out there, 'cause it doesn't, but what I will claim is that this, overall, is the best package the fighting genre has ever seen.
Pros: A love letter to all MK fans, packed with content (mini games, collectibles and challenges galore and more), the best story mode in the genre, funny, brutal and satisfying, loads of fun to be had offline
Cons: Fighting system might be a bit too oldschool, online multiplayer has issues

I have played all 9 main games of the MK franchise. Ever since the first game i've been hooked on MK and MK9 takes the series back to it's roots and improves on the fighting mechanics to make it my favorite of the series. All characters from the first three are in there except Cyber Smoke and added in is my favorite character Quan Chi. Every character has two unique fatality's, one fatality for every stage, and a babality. The only bad thing i can't say about the game is the online which was bad at launch and is ok now but still not great. If you want to get into MK series i would highly recommend this.
