Big, colorful graphics that still hold up. Amazing gameplay....just pure fun! I still have the code to Tyson memorized. The Wii version was a great follow up.

Have you ever played a game like Punch-Out!! that isn't in the Punch-Out!! series? I sure haven't, and that's what makes Nintendo's 8-bit boxing title so unique. It's not a fighting game, nor does it belong in the "Sports" genre (even though the subject material is classified as such); it's really an elaborate puzzle game that tests your wits as well as your reflexes. Taking on the role of the tiny-tanium Little Mac, you body-blow and uppercut your way to the top of the boxing food chain, fighting legendary stereotypes from all over the world, from the French weakling Glass Joe to the ego-centric Hollywood-based Super Macho Man. Fun gameplay and impressive presentation make this Mike Tyson-endorsed title an absolute classic.

A game of pure rhythm and reflexes. Punch-Out is less of a fighting game and more like a precursor to rhythm games like Parappa the Rapper and Rock Band. You see the cue for what to do next, dodge or block at the right time, then counter with the right combo of punches! Yes, it's extremely frustrating, but that frustration makes it all the more satisfying! Whether I want to sit down for a few minutes and have one match, or take hours to struggle to Mike Tyson, Punch-Out!! is my most revisited NES game... that doesn't feature Mega Man.
