Samus returns in a new mission to unravel the mystery behind the ruined walls scattered across Tallon IV.     I've beaten this four or five times, once with only one game over!

    Metroid Prime is easily the best game Iv'e played, and is probably the essential GC release. A wonderful soundtrack (with the right system, it's flat-out unbelievable) and cool and creepy gameplay with a few shooter elements make this the best of its franchise.

    (Wii version reviewed) MP is a great FPS and it's the first one I've ever played. Naturally, I had some trouble getting into this game and I'm honest with ya: without a walkthrough, I'd have given up after 5 minutes. This game is extremely difficult in some areas, especially when it comes to boss battles, finding hidden ways and using the right strategy against enemies. I eventually managed to beat this game and I'm glad that I did. The atmosphere is outstanding, as are graphics and soundtrack. There are some issues though. The amount of backtracking is inexcusable. It takes hours just to get from one point to another. It gets really annoying especially when collecting those artifacts. Platforming elements (like jumping from one platform to another) feel really weird; it just doesn't work well in First Person View. Switching between different weapons and visors is also annoying. The map is confusing (I got lost often). Bottom line: awesome game with some issues, very enjoyable!

    75% of the battle is totally easy but the remaining 25% (when he loses his wings) are so hard that I got a Game Over. This is so frustrating, I almost defeated him...

    Metroid is my favorite game series, and Metroid Prime is hands down my favorite of them all. It's one of the best metroidvania games in terms of design, and on top of that it flawlessly transitioned the series into 3D in a way that no one at the time thought would work (people were originally skeptical of the 1st person perspective). In fact the new perspective added to the experience by working with the series' artstyle and making one of the most atmospheric games I can ever recall playing. When it comes to the best in engaging metroidvania gamplay, immersive atmosphere, and loads of replayability, there are a handful of worthy games that come to many peoples' minds, but for me I alway think of Metroid Prime.

    After a decade long hiatus, the Metroid series came roaring back to the same level of perfection set by its predecessor Super Metroid, but in an entirely new 3D format in which no one had faith beforehand. Metroid Prime executed its mission with almost nary a flaw. The only reason I cannot rate it even higher is because it is outdone by its own sequel, and the game whose shadow it stepped within.

    Metroid is one of my favorite game franchises of all time. It's a real tough call as to which game to feature on this list. Super Metroid or Metroid Prime? Obviously Metroid Prime won. The reason is because it's my favorite metroid title and the impact of seeing that world in 3D for the first time is something that never weakens with time. Plus it still plays like a dream.

    Some people might say "Metroid Prime is an amazing FPS" when is an outstanding adventure game. I remember everything about Tallon IV, it's overworld, Phendrona Drifts, Magmoor Caverns, the Chozo Ruins, every detail was so well done it made the planet vast and never ending, it blew my mind. Thanks to the whole Prime series, I figured that FP games can be more than just shooters; they can be exceptional adventures that take you beyond what you can expect of a game were you carry a gun; "Explore and Find" is the name of the game, Samus Aran is has mysterious has the game itself. One of the most epic games I've ever played and certenly one of the greatest games of all time.
