I've played the two predecessors before MP3. I already liked those so I had high expectations on this game. Not only did it exceed my expectations, it also outshines the predecessors! Retro Studios fixed all those things that I considered annoying: the maps are smaller, making it much easier to navigate. There is hardly any backtracking when compared to the predecessors. You don't have to change your beams every minute - in fact, you don't have to change your beam at all because your current beam gets upgraded. Opening doors and battling enemies is now much easier. No annoying "morph-ball minigames". Cutscenes and hints what to do next. Voice acting. Graphics and soundtrack are top-notch. I didn't think it was possible to further improve on MP1's and MP2's already excellent graphics and soundtrack but Retro Studios somehow did it. The only things that could further improve a "Metroid Prime"-game are HD graphics and a way to take notes or mark things on the map for better overview.

Retro studios put an unbelievable amount of work into all three Prime games, but even with two wildly intriguing predecessors to live up to, the dev pulled it off - Prime 3 turned out even better than 1 and 2. Nearly everything in sight could be scanned for information, the bestiary was derived from well-thought out evolutionary mythology, music is unique and unlike anything else I've heard, and...well, planet hopping is always a blast. Not to mention it continues to sport the Wii's best graphical capabilities even after a few years.

I have nothing bad to say about MP3. Nothing at all. I never have, and I never will. To this day I consider it the best game on the Wii.

This was one of the first games I played on the Wii and after it, I NEVER wanted to play a shooter with dual-analog ever again; I think this one has been highly overlooked by many, and deserves more attention, the story shows very well the fight of Samus to control the phazoon running through her veins and it closes very well the Prime Trilogy; the controls are my favorite thing about this game, it made me wanted to prefer a new control style over one I was very used to, that alone says a lot!
