(Wii version reviewed) MP2 features a dark world / light world setting which I find fascinating and amazing! It adds a lot to the atmosphere - speaking of atmosphere, if you are in the dark world, you constantly get damage which is in my opinion a great idea because the player has to figure out new strategies to complete a room without losing too much health. Graphics and soundtrack are top-notch just like in the predecessor. There are many things to discover via the scanning feature which is really fun to use. There are also some cutscenes which tell the story - that is something that I missed in the predecessor. All in all, I find this game better than the predecessor although there are still some annoying things. There are too many morph-ball-"minigames". The Screw Attack is difficult to use. There is a camera glitch in one room. The final battle - which has a freaking TIME LIMIT! - is very unfair. Some enemies get annoying and repetitive. Great game, it's like MP1 done better!

A classic that has only grown on me with every single one of my 30 or so play-throughs. The Dark World of Aether is the most memorable setting in any game I have played and I constantly wish for some other work to successfully capture its aesthetic. Everything about the game is in my point of view perfect as it is. The various glitches found have only managed to give it new life by enabling novel ways of playing through the game.

Wow! Retro completely delivers on the sequel to one of the best games of all time. And they didn't just take the easy route - they opted for a more difficult and complex game. The level design might actually be better than the first too. Can't imagine having to craft an area and think of how to exploit it creatively for both the Light and Dark worlds. It's incredible what they did. My only minor gripe is the music - I definitely preferred the more melodic tunes from the first.

My all-time favorite video game, Echoes takes everything great about Metroid Prime and amps it up! As opposed to the isolated, sometimes almost bleak feel to the previous game, Echoes's atmosphere is more open and simultaneously darker. The actual gameplay hasn't changed too much, but the addition of various characters, backgrounds, and a parallel universe adds so much more to it. The puzzles have a very unique feel, as well, with the aspect of having to travel back and forth between the "Dark" and "Light" worlds. And let's not forget that this has two of the greatest locations in any video game: Torvus bog and Sanctuary Fortress. Definitely one of the most underrated games out there, even with it's positive reception.

Only drawback is the dual world setting. Other than that, it's basically flawless.
