Metroid: Other M (メトロイド アザーエム, Metoroido Azā Emu?) is an action-adventure video game for the Wii developed by "Project M", a team which consists of staff members from Nintendo, Team Ninja, and D-Rockets. A part of the Metroid series, it features gameplay in both first- and third-person perspectives, and is the first installment of the franchise to feature melee attacks which could only be executed when an enemy's health was reduced to a certain degree. Other M was released in North America on August 31, 2010, Japan and Australia on September 2, 2010, and in Europe on September 3, 2010. Impressed with the 2004 action game Ninja Gaiden, series co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto approached Team Ninja to develop Other M, while D-Rockets was brought in to handle the in-game cutscenes.     A perfectly fine action title with a terrible plot. I don't know what inspired Sakamoto to stop completely ripping off Alien (A Cease and Desist letter, maybe?) but he should have never stopped. His attempts at characterization are laughable and dated. Plot aside, the game is quite fun. It's got some weird quirks (first-person aiming?) but everything else works like it's supposed to. The game certainly has its problems and is probably the worst console Metroid title but it's still a solid game. As someone who dislikes how directionless most Metroid titles are, I liked the linear approach this one took. Not a terrible game and certainly not one to be missed considering how cheap it is now.

    This is a game that, in my opinion, people just love to hammer-bash; Other M is judged from a storytelling point of view in the public eye. I admit the story is downright bad; if not, weak for what was expected; over-the-top melodramatic, terrible dialogues, horrid characters, stupid plot-holes and Samus has a questionable personality; however the gameplay was great, combat was fast and furious, great CG cutscenes (perhaps the best the Wii has ever seen), cool music and atmosphere. But seriously, this game do more right things than wrong; Nintendo and Team Ninja created a fine game on the Wii and it's unfair to see it being judge by story over everything else the game offers... but its obviusly NOT better than Prime.
