I still gotta figure out how to get the community edition of Melty Blood to work. The graphics, the music and the fighting system, it's just so good.

Tried out Yumizuka Satsuki. In the Tsukihime visual novels, she's literally one of the worthless side characters who gets turned into a vampire. In Melty Blood, she's actually one of the toughest fighters, depending on how people play her.

Seriously, half her moves are throws. She's got one of the best sweeps. Her best combo ender is a ground pound special move. And one of them is a jumping throw that can counter a ton of attacks. So weird, but she's great in tournaments! That is, if anyone can imagine a little schoolgirl grappling and beating the crap out of vampires...

Neco-Arc is so freaking weak. Took me forever to find a decent fighting strategy for the cat in normal arcade mode.

And after watching this, I guess the cat has a different story on the hardest difficulty level. Grr...

Btw, I'd totally watch this. Neco Arc is true canon.

Beat the game for two characters. Man, this game needed a retail release back in the days. It's too good.

I always felt that Ciel controlled like Vega, so I don't know how someone racked up all these combos.

Oh hang on...I'm trying her out. I guess she's some crazy cross between Sagat and Ibuki. That's so cheap. Cool.

...It's damn good. This is a revamped version of the game that I played at Anime Expo. It's got all the main characters from the original visual novel...porn...series that it's based off of. More importantly, the whole vibe of this game is so dark and beautiful. The animation is more fluid than any other fighter I can think of. The music has some haunted Castlevania vibe.

For such a technical fighter, it's one of the most artistic ones. There's tons of TV static and nonsensical gothic text that flashes by, just to give each match a creepy edge. I just wish that the devs improved the PS2 era sprites. Aside from these gripes, it's an impressive masterpiece. And I have no clue how it got approved for release, but the reason isn't important. This game is just awesome.

I think I have a better time playing and enjoying Melty Blood, but it's hard to explain what makes this game good. There's a ton of fun characters, all of which are very loosely based on the Tsukihime visual novel. Emphasis on loose. The "Actress Again, Current Code" edition has all the versions of the fighters, include their "Super Seiyan"-ish powered forms. Each character has a completely different playing style. One of the maid characters can throw a chibi-cat version of Arucreid, named Mech(WTF). And there's also robot versions of characters, just because they had to do it.

It's just great to watch and the controls are very responsive. I just wish that the devs did the same 2D thing for the Fate franchise. Everything just seemed to work better with anime sprites.

Easily one of the quickest and most intense fighting games in the last few years. The name is stupid, but the character animation is more fluid than any other game in the genre. The real draw for this game is in the mood--the dark nighttime graphics and the haunted Castlevania-style choirs give this fighter such a morbid, mysterious edge. All of this, hidden in some spinoff franchise of a visual novel porn series? Uh, just roll with it.
