    - local multiplayer has a MANDATORY splitscreen (wtf)
    - the "Adventure Mode" is nothing but a beefed up minigame-mode with simple cutscenes; it is nowhere near as complex as the story mode in the GBA title, which Nintendo advertised (false advertising)
    - Adventure Mode is only 3-4 hours, repetitive and frustrating
    - characters are added via DLC (at least it's free)
    - custom settings are horrible (no way to change the number of sets, only way to choose courts is via a weird convoluted exclusion setting)
    - no Item mode like in Power Tennis
    - only three single player tournaments without any funny winning animations like in Power Tennis (and you don't even unlock anything, making this mode completely useless)
    - swing mode is a gimmicky dud
    - no customization options like custom rackets
    - day one update (1.9 GB)

This is the consensus of multiple reviews that I've read. It killed any excitement for this game that I once had. Camelot practically ported their previous game and they STILL couldn't make a decent single-player experience?! They tried but it's nowhere near enough for a full-price title.

    Sad.

Just tried the online mode in the demo version. It's pretty bad to be honest. Due to the Switch having an awful WiFi module, my Internet speed drops down to 3.1mbps download and 2.3mbps upload (my usual connection is 50mbps download, 4mbps upload), making this game somehow unplayable in online mode. The controls are delayed (as if I'm playing with buffer 30 on Dolphin emulator, which is already an insanely high value for poor connections); the game didn't even register the direction I wanted to play the ball in. I'll wait for a big price cut before buying this (that means: never, as Nintendo hardly ever lower the prices of their games) and I'm sure as hell not shelling out like 30 bucks for a Switch LAN adapter just because Nintendo decided to be cheap by implementing a poor WiFi module.

Editing … A friend with Gigabit faces the same problems so the problem isn't my Internet connection. If this is how "Nintendo Online" is going to be then they are off to a bad start

It looks ten times better than #Mario Tennis: Ultra Smashh and the roster seems absolutely perfect - no clones or unnecessary baby characters. I'm still cautious though... I'll wait for reviews before deciding whether to buy it or not.

Editing … If it looks 10 times better it must be on a 10x more powerful hardware. Like, a pocket calculator or something.

Editing … Sorry, couldn't resist another dig at Ninty. If I didn't you'd all think my account was hacked. I do actually like tennis games, but I very rarely play them. Egg liked Mario tennis so I tried that and enjoyed it.
