"Somewhere along the way, though, Nintendo lost control over its Mario Sports series entirely, and from the Nintendo DS and Wii onwards the collective franchise has been slipping ever closer towards utter shovelware. There’s a fine line between “simple” and “insulting,” and we see plenty of examples of the series ending up on the wrong side of that line. Mario Tennis has degenerated further towards button mashing powershots back and forth with every new game, and no longer resembling tennis to any degree. Compilations like Mario Sports Mix on the Wii have watered the mechanics of a range of sports to minigame standard, and as the Olympic Games actual minigame compilations have become major releases under the Mario sports franchise. These games are all briefly charming, but it doesn’t take long for their startling lack of depth to become apparent."

Please, someone give this guy a medal. THIS is EXACTLY why I've become more of a Nintendo hater than a fan these past years. Nintendo dumbed down their sport games and ruined their other franchises (Paper Mario, Mario Party). This is the reason why I'm so bitter about every new disappointing Nintendo announcement. This is the reason why I'm angry at the Nintendo fanboys who support these kind of wrongdoings. This is the reason why I'm constantly emulating Nintendo's classics on my PC while my Wii U is collecting dust.
I should be the new CEO of Nintendo. I'd make Nintendo GREAT again!

    Mario Sports Ripoff:

"The Mario Sports Superstars series of 90 amiibo cards (five for each character) builds upon this extensive roster by allowing players to unlock more powerful versions of each character in each sport. By tapping a Mario Sports Superstars series amiibo card, players can unlock the Star version of the corresponding character in the corresponding sport. A Star character has stronger stats than its regular counterpart, giving that character an edge in that particular sport. And by tapping up to three amiibo cards, players can participate in the Road to Superstar mode. Completing this mode will bestow Superstar status on their characters, giving an even greater boost to their stats."

The Golf and Tennis sports in this collection are developed by Camelot Software Planning. Whoever's responsible for the other sports remains to be seen.
I find this extremely weird: Camelot also developed #Mario Golf: World Tour and #Mario Tennis Open for 3DS. Are they going to simply port these two sports into this collection or do they make changes to the engine / add new courses?

Whatever the case is, I find it terrible that Camelot is once again busy with a 3DS title. R.I.P. Mario Golf Wii U.

Editing … The tennis looks identical to Mario Tennis Open. The golf looks similar to Mario Golf World Tour but World Tour visually looks much worse imo. Part of me wants to buy all three games. But if I buy Sports Superstars first, that will help me decide if I want to buy the other two. (I'll get World Tour if I really like the golf, and Open if I really like the Tennis)

A slap in the face of Wii U owners. The titles that Wii U so badly needs are only coming for 3DS. I would have loved to play this game since it features a very high amount of playable characters. I wonder who develops this game.
