Mario Kart 8
Mario Kart 8 (Japanese: マリオカート8, Hepburn: Mario Kāto Eito?) is a 2014 kart racing game and the eighth major installment in the Mario Kart series, developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii U video game console. First announced at E3 2013, the game was released worldwide in May 2014. Like other games in the series, in Mario Kart 8, players control characters from the Mario franchise and participate in kart racing on various race tracks, using items to hinder opponents or gain advantages. While incorporating game mechanics originally featured in earlier Mario Kart games, Mario Kart 8 introduces anti-gravity sections that allow players to drive on walls or ceilings. The game features multiple single-player and multiplayer game modes. The game incorporates Miiverse functionality and online multiplayer supported via Nintendo Network. Mario Kart 8 was a critical and commercial success upon its release, currently holding aggregate critical scores of 88.52% and 88% on GameRan...

Saved!Currently I've modded in:
Pikachu (replaces Baby Daisy)
Shrek (Donkey Kong)
Sora (Link)
Skull Kid (Villager, but I actually like playing Villager so I might remove this)
Mega Man (Metal Mario)
Black Mage (Pink Gold Peach)
WALL-E (Baby Luigi)
Pit (Daisy)-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … The fact that you had to replace existing characters makes all of this even worse. Dx
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Nuh uh
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … Very good, replace all the shit characters. Is there a Spike mod as well? We all need some Spike in our lives.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I don't see any mods for a character named Spike
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I kinda wanna make my own custom skins. Is Blender hard?
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … No Spike? Awww :( There's a Spike mod for Mario Party Superstars at least. Not sure how hard it is to create your own skin / character. So far I've only replaced the announcer in Mario Party Superstars with Hitler and edited some boards to have fewer "lucky" spaces.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I'm guessing Spike refers to the MLP character but I prefer to picture a frowning lanky blonde vampire crammed into a tiny cartoon kart racer.
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … No, it's the Spike from the Mario series! The green one! With the thick, luscious lips that I just want to smooch. The one with the big balls.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Oh, gotcha. I barely know my goombas from my koopas.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I remember once dreaming about a mega man robot master that spit out a ball from his mouth and threw it, which I later realized was actually based on Spike from Smb3. It must be a core memory, that guy was legit kind of terrifying compared to most mario enemies.

Saved!Whenever I plug this cartridge in, I lost an hour of my life. Yeah it's fun, but all the gameplay modes and options are a little too addicting, man.
9/10 -
Saved!Nintendo snuck in a ton of customizable content that can be unlocked by earning coins (or points or something) from winning races. So yeah, I won a Mercedes Benz car for some reason. And then everything went downhill from there. As good as this game is, I'm gonna try to take a break before kart racing takes over my life.
-
Saved!I'm pretty sure that the matchmaking algorithm for Mario Kart 8 gives me good matches for an hour. Then it forces me to play abnormally tough opponents to force me to take a break. Like geez, couldn't they just say "Stop playing now"? Freaking game logic.
...But my last few matches were fun. I currently have over 1,100 in Kart ranking points. -
Saved!Dangit, I've never gotten into first place online. I bet everyone is cheating.
-
Saved!Whelp, split screen multiplayer doesn't work too well on a Switch Lite. However...I like this version. The controls are a lot tighter than they were in the last two games.
I'm still getting used to freaking hang-glider mode, but I guess it does add some vertical movement to racing. More importantly, the racer/kart is customizable. Nintendo tried this out in Gamecube, but then they added in all those stat meters to make every decision confusing. Thank God they simplified everything for this version.
I still need to try online gameplay, but Mario Kart 8 feels good so far. And hell yeah, they remixed the original SNES theme! Woohoo! -
Saved!I must've been asleep when this game became one of the best racing games in the last few years. I mean, Mario Kart Wii online play sucked. Nintendo probably improved everything by now, but I will always hate the lag.
I'm trying to hype myself up before I purchase this, but my best memories of Mario Kart come from the Super Nintendo and the N64. I still hate the Wii version. And parts of the Gamecube edition. Ugh.

Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Possibly the most fun I've ever had with the series was playing MK Wii split screen with my nephew against random people online. I worry that nothing will ever top that, so I might as well not even bother trying MK8. Playing MK7 on 3DS didn't really increase my confidence. The single player structure (or lack thereof) of MK games make the experience feel barren and dated.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Yeah, MK Wii split screen felt like the last of a generation. Then it was all about high-end graphics? I mean, I'm still kind of pissed that I don't get the giant Cheep Cheep balloon that gives me the trophy. Err...RIP Cheep Cheep.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … I actually thought that the Gamecube version was cool for a while. Then I thought about how much it really accomplished. Yeah, I get an extra partner to ride with me? I mean, it didn't really change that much. I like the controller though.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … If the partner system was such a good idea, you would think it would be brought back in later games. After all, the bikes from MK Wii were brought back. It's one of the only things that make me at least somewhat interested in getting 8. I kinda wish the game didn't have anti grav tracks, because the bikes seem less like bikes. I mean, can you still pop a wheelie while upside down? How does that even work? =P
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I own the game now btw. It's currently downloading. I saw someone offer the code for $35 so I took him up on it.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … It's a good game, except it has auto-steer on by default. I had to turn it off in the pause menu. Aside from that, it's just as unfair as Mario Kart Wii. Freaking weapons...

Saved!the way I just stole first place was a fucking crime
-
Saved!holy shit these F-Zero maps are fun as hell
is F-Zero fun as hell too?!-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … so I can pirate it. For my Wii U. Did I mention I bought a Wii U, modded it, and am now pirating games for it?
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … #FAST Racing Neo? First I've heard of it. Why did it have to be on the Nintendo console that nobody bought? After neglecting F-Zero fans for 15 years they're the last ones who deserve to benefit.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Hey thanks! It looks like it's part of a series on Nintendo consoles, had an entry on Wii and Switch too.
-
Saved! The water in this game is really pretty.
-
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I would if I had a Wii U or Switch and liked multiplayer. It looks really good.
