As Klopp leaves to next season, tendency for Reds is very likely downhill.

    Saved!
Since getting into football a year ago I've watched a lot. I'm not really someone who likes picking just one team to watch and support. I have several. But out of the dozen or so clubs I try to follow across various leagues they're probably #1 or 2 in terms of how much I want them to succeed. I've gotten to like all the players, and Klopp, and how they play, and I really hope they can bounce back this season after such a poor start. After an amazing season last year they've had such awful luck with injuries, and their mentality seems completely wiped out. I don't want City to walk the league so they need to fix things while they've got a bit of a break.

Editing … Boooooo! My mrs is a scouser and her whole family are Everton fans. I've kind of adopted Everton too.

Editing … I don't care about rivalries, man. They're dumb. It's just a sport team. I don't dislike Everton. Out of all the teams in the Premier League they're probably about in the middle for how I feel about them. I like them just fine and certainly don't want them to get relegated.

Editing … But rivalries are half of what football is! Especially derby day, there's nothing more exciting than playing your local rivals. Have you seen any videos of the big derby games from around the world, such as Glasgow or Turkey or Argentina? And it's not just about winning, even if you lose it's the whole experience, it's what makes football the greatest sport on Earth. I think if you allowed yourself to get caught up in the excitement and got the full experience you'd enjoy it even more. And there's no reason to hate rival fans, in the Liverpool derby fans sit side by side and there's no trouble, that's how it should be.

Editing … Goodison is a really old stadium, when people jump together like when they score you can feel the entire stand move. They are building a new stadium now though right by the river it looks great.

Editing … And I mostly hate Liverpool just because I have a lot of friends who support them, it's great banter when we watch the games together.

Editing … Nah man sport is just sport. It's entertainment. These are all giant corporate entities that compete each other kicking a ball into a net. I like it. But it's not worth the emotional investment of disliking a team because it's in the same city as the team you like or something happened between them decades ago. The people running the club (not the players/managers, but the actual money people) don't care about rivalries so long as they keep making money.

Editing … I think Liverpool vs. Everton is basically the same level of emotional discourse as Star Wars vs. Star Trek or some other fandom rivalry. They're all silly.
