The only player to ever score in every round at a world cup.

I'm glad the Messi/Ronaldo debate has finally been put to bed. There's no doubt now that Messi was the greatest player of his generation.

The best player in the world imo. He has more natural ability than Ronaldo, who relies on his physical ability as much as his skill.

Editing … While I think Iniesta is the best player in the world right now, I can see why anyone would say Messi...even though he's pretty incomplete and dependant on genius midfielders.

Editing … Hey Ulty, remember when you said Messi was dependant on Xavi and Iniesta? Well, he's still breaking records and banging in goals.

Great player! One of the greatest of his generation, and one of the best in the world. His dribble is outstanding, and can crack many defenses with relative ease. He's not very strong though, he's weak aerial-wise, and IMO has one noticeable flaw: his shine only comes when in Barcelona, more specifically when the team (mainly Xavi and Iniesta) is inspired. When on Argentina, and when Barca's not that inspired, he usually underplays to a point where he seems like a completely different player. It happens, all players have flaws and inconsistent performances, but the praise Messi gets is kind of ridiculous. But still, great player with a wonderful natural talent for football.

Editing … I don't know about underperforming for Argentina, he's got nearly a goal every 2 games(slightly better than Ronaldos average) and is Argentina's 2nd highest scorer of all time at the age of just 25. Not bad considering he doesn't have too many other world class players supporting him.

Editing … No, not bad at all. I never said, and never will, that Messi is a bad player. He's f***ing brilliant, but the reason why he performs better in Argentina than Ronaldo in Portugal is because Portugal is such a tactical disaster I feel embarrased to even talk about it. And he's got the amount of goals as a STRIKER, and Ronaldo got his...as a WINGER. Completely different story, which makes Ronaldo's track record much more impressive IMO. But Messi is World Class, no arguing there...
