so the sequel's got a lot of of people in disagreement, and I just gotta say
if it weren't for Samuel L Jackson, this would have just been another generic action comedy

Kingsman: The Secret Service is a good bit of manic fun. For those who feel that Barbara Broccoli & company have made James Bond a bit to serious will find some solace in Matthew Vaughn's latest outing. Kingsman is to the Spy genre what Kick-Ass was to the Superhero genre, a counter-point. In a film world where James Bond has gotten more serious Kingsman fills in the goofy void that it leaves behind. It's cartoonishly fun as it pays homage to both the Connery era of Bond & 60s T.V. spy shows (like The Avengers) - though it can be a bit too meta when it comes to paying said homage. It works within its own rights. Outside of feeling that Vaughn still has a bit of trouble handling tone & a run-time that makes the film feel like it's outstaying its welcome I have to admit that I had a good amount of fun with it. The film shines its brightest when Colin Firth is on screen. The man is fantastic at playing the role of the veteran spy, he is perfect in every way. The action sequences, while not having the flow or believability of other recent action movies like Fury Road or John Wick, are fun in their own right. They're also rather vicious in execution, definitely not for the feint of heart - also this has the best usage of Free Bird I've seen yet. When it's all said and done Kingsman: The Secret Service is a good bit of fun. It's not entirely inspired but that really doesn't matter. Execution matters, and as far as I'm concerned Kingsman fires on all cylinders. (7/10)

Alright, today I've seen two people (been checking now & then out of curiosity) trying to change this to a 2015 release date. I put the 2015 release date when I first put this up but was changed by whoever accepted the page. So maybe whoever did this explain why they did that so people will stop changing it lol.

Editing … I will say that I agree with the people trying to change it. Just because the film had one premiere at a film festival in 2014 doesn't mean it's a 2014 release. I don't know why Wikipedia has its festival premiere as the first release date. Hell, even on Vaughn's own wiki page it says it is a 2015 film

Editing … Alright then, we'll have an exception for this one. Let's leave it at 2015.

Editing … If we're doing this for Kingsman, the same should go for V for Vendetta. Someone edited it to a 2005 film, because of a single Dec 11 festival showing listed on imdb (which I've found to be innacurate at times).

Editing … And like Kingsman, James McTeigue's Wiki page says that it is a 2006 film. You see, this is why I don't like the fact that his site uses the first sentence in a film's wiki page to determine what year a film has been released. IMO the release date should be determined by the film's first theatrical release to a country (be it a limited, internet, or otherwise). Mostly because the film that is showed at a festival is likely to change, either because of its reception or stipulations by the distribution company that picks up the film for distribution. Again this are just my two cents, you guys choose what you believe to be best for the site.

Editing … What if a movie comes out in 2015 in a festival and someone adds the page on Favslist to rank it. Then what happens if the theatrical release happens in 2016 or even 2017? Should we leave it as "premiered" and only rankable in the most anticipated list until it comes out in theater? What if it never comes out in theaters? Not an easy issue...

Editing … Many indie films completely skip theatrical releases. This is a predicament.

Editing … While we're on a thread together-- should Anime/Manga characters also be listed as Literature/TV Show characters? I'd think that manga covers literature (excluding novels) and anime covers TV shows/movies (unless they appear in a live-action adaptation), but I'd like to make sure

Editing … Yes, you can count them as such. In too complicated to do now, but later on we'll be able to differentiate between animated and live-action characters. We'll have to wait on our feature on different version of a single game. We'll apply it to characters as well.
