I'm shocked that this game is no.6 on 3DS, I am a huge fanatic of the series and everywhere else I go it's usually just "oh it's in the top 25..but not top 10". (provided they don't flat out hate the controls)

Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of the best games ever made. It is the best shooter for a Nintendo platform since the 90's, manages to contain excessive amounts of content, has delightful storytelling, stellar presentation, single player and multiplayer modes that complement one another well, a lovable cast of characters, crazy awesome levels and bosses, and a powerful wizard enemy capable of turning you into fried shrimp.

I am not sure if this game is making a mockery of Nintendo's sensibilities, or celebrating the creativity and enthusiasm that is responsible for them. Either way, it excels at its mission.

Certainly a passable comeback for a long dormant franchise. The game has several neat ideas but technical limitations and a total lack of restraint hurt it immensely. The game deliberately stretches itself out several times in order to achieve a play-time of over 10 hours. Also, the characters never shut up which makes actually focusing on the game (which is already chaotic) even more difficult. It's not the writing is bad either, in fact it's pretty solid, it's just that there is never a quiet moment in this game. Issues with the camera and physically painful controls make for a less than pleasant playing experience as well. It's certainly a good return to a series that hadn't seen a game in about 20 years though. There was clearly a lot of love put into the game and I appreciate that, I just wish the final product had a bit more polish. It would have been better as a straight up Sin & Punishment clone.

Why did this game existed? because of Pit's appearance in Brawl, but that's not what dumbs down this game for me. The story while it has an attempt at serious topics it feels like a fairy tale and it would be better for the characters and setting if it would have sticked to that fairy tale style. Gameplay is functional but massy, thank god for that dodging mechanic otherwise it would be even more messy; the fun is definitely the flaying sections, multiplayer is chaotic fun, but it wasn't enough to keep me playing for more than a couple of matches... I can't add more reasons for why this game doesn't cut it, but i have pointed the main reasons why, is a very messy game in general, hopefully in the future the series will get better...

I waited my entire life for this game. I had waited for a new Kid Icarus, for a lifetime. The game finally came after all this time but at least it was "SORRY TO KEEP YOU WAITING!". I love this game, it feels like a series that has been a coma where, I've sat bedside, waiting day in and day out for it to wake up. Every E3, I'd hope for this new announcement badly. Finally, E3 2010 came, 2 years later it comes out and it was amazing. The way it destroys the fourth wall, the way it's self-aware, its story, its gameplay, its atmosphere. It's a lifetime wait of a dream come true. It would have been more perfect if this were on the Wii or Wii U for wiimote/nunchuck. Oh well though, as is, it's still what I hoped for. The Fight Is On!
