The visuals and especially the music made this one for me. It Follows is nice looking and the cool soundtrack is a mix of the freaky Silent Hill/Serial Experiments: Lain stuff and for some bizarre yet likable reason 80's Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon type stuff. The concept is neat and original but story is so simple that a TV episode would have sufficed and feels stretched across 100 minutes, and the characters are uninteresting and sometimes didn't act in a way I found believable. However, the slow pacing makes the jump scares really effective.

It Follows is pure mastery of the horror genre. In a world where the genre is oversaturated with copycats, David Robert Mitchell's 2nd outing stands out brightly. Which is a bit ironic as it itself is sort of a copycat. Mitchell borrows heavily, and I mean heavily, from John Carpenter's genre defining Halloween; outside of the narrative the films are near identical. And you know what? I love it. Why? because it shows that Mitchell understand what made Halloween so genre defining. It Follows isn't a film of jump scares, its goal isn't to go boo in the shadows; it's ambition reaches farther then that. It's goal is to install dread & fear into its audience, to make something that gets under your skin. And boy does it. It Follows is certainly something you'll soon not forget, it is horror at its finest. Dripping with atmosphere & rich in tension, Mitchell's film is easily one of the horror genre's best. With The Babadook and now this maybe, just maybe, the horror genre can be grea

Editing … I didn't get why the old woman walked straight at the window when she was in class, every other time the monster tried to go in the front door first. Creepy movie!

It Follows is a bit different from most horror movies, it doesn't feel dark, it's not gory, it isn't extremely cheesy, it doesn't rely on boobs to sell the movie. Don't worry, though, there IS boobs in this movie.
The idea about this movie is that there's something following you, you don't know what it is, you don't even know how it really looks like, because it's always looking like different people. This monster does not give you jump scares, it does not scream, it does not possess things, it doesn't even run. It follows. Slowly. Yes, you can run away, pretty much everything can run faster than that thing, but you can't kill it. And it doesn't stop following you. You may be in another country, or even continent, but be sure to know that somewhere, somehow, that creature is walking in your direction, and eventually, be it in 5 hours, 5 days or even 5 decades, it will reach you and get you.

    Unless you pass it on.
