This is not your typical shounen, HxH is what you get when you run a shounen through an ultrafine filter and remove all the crap. You're left with perfection. This is a genre transcending show that anyone can enjoy.

It's impossible for me to adequately convey just how great this show is. It's been the highlight of my Tuesday for almost every week of the last year. It maintains such a high standard of quality over such a vast number of episodes that it's almost unbelievable.

The story begins with Gon, a young boy planning to take the perilous Hunter Exam in order to chase after his father who abandoned him as a baby. The cast of characters assembled as the show progresses are, as a whole, the most detailed, emotion provoking and intriguing set of characters I have ever seen. There are so many of them I have no idea how they managed to make them all so interesting.

There is simply not enough space here, I'll continue in the comments but this one really deserves your attention.

Editing … The music has no business being this good, the vast stylistic range of music displayed throughout the show is an absolute joy to listen to. I know I bang on about music in TV shows quite a lot but HxH just astounds me with the sheer volume of amazing music. Musical excellence starts with the very first episode, from the initial shot of Whale Island with #Kujira-tō Yori playing in the background and doesn't stop until the final scene of the final episode.

Editing … I think I was on the edge of my seat long enough with this show that I started to float in mid air, I am so invested in this world and it's truly sad to see it end. You really don't get the chance to watch something so meticulously and perfectly put together very often. I'm really not being hyperbolic when I say that nearly everything about this show is amazing.

Editing … It's generally regarded as not as good by fans but like I said if you find yourself in the blues after finishing this and need another big series check out #Yu Yu Hakusho, it's made by the same author and has a lot of similarities

@Pape Badiane The original HxH is one of my favorite anime of all time, but I never got around to watching the remake. Have you watched the original as well? If so, how does this one compare?

Editing … The original is one of my favorite anime of all-time as well. I didn't like that remake at first since I am so in love with the original but It got too exciting when the Kurapika arc (York Shin) started. This version continues after Greed island... can't miss that.
