Well I just now played through this for the first time for reasons I'm not sure of. A serviceable 3D platformer that isn't all that difficult and is fun to compare since I know the story so well. Dialogue is laughable and scenarios don't make much sense but it's a video game doing video gamey things. Watch out for those super wizard crackers and Hagrid just doesn't want to deal with bullshit like lava rivers or slippery bank floors so he sends Harry on his errands. All in all not bad for an video game adaptation of a book IP.

Editing … Hehe I'll never ever play this but I love your reviews. They are so thorough.

Editing … Glad to hear it. I'm in like a gaming haze as of late. I just keep starting games randomly and for some reason my tolerance for the bullshit is astronomical now. I'll chase a peacock around for 45 minutes to get his feathers.

Editing … lol! That's amazing. It sounds like you can just enjoy games like kids can. No matter how crappy a game, kids can find fun in any shitty game. The fun can be there if you just let it be there.

This guy talks about the first Harry Potter ps1 game. I played it a lot as a kid and the music made me nostalgic. He does a pretty good job going over why it's a decent game even if he meanders a bit. https://youtu.be/3Ma4C4TaCw4 When I was a kid, Harry Potter characters didn't sound British. British people sounded like Harry Potter characters. And Harry Potter games didn't have Zelda controls. Zelda games had Harry Potter game controls. <3

Editing … Ha, I feel the same way about the SNES game "Goof troop". When I played "a link to the past" a couple of years ago, I couldn't help myself but think that lttp was a blatant rip-off of goof troop when infact it was the other way around. :)

Editing … I remember playing this on PS1, it was good fun. I think Chamber of Secrets on PS2 was even better though.

Editing … Chamber of Secrets is in my top 100. It was one of the first games I got for PS2 and at the time I loved it. I hadn't played Zelda back then either, even now I don't really care about all the similarities. You can say the same thing about Beyond Good & Evil, it doesn't stop a game being awesome.

Editing … Beyond Good & Evil felt more like Jak and Daxter to me than anything, but overall it felt pretty unique.

The ps1 version is one of those games I played a shitton as a kid and probably know on a moment to moment basis even though it wasn't really amazing or anything.
