Halo 5: Guardians is a first-person shooter video game developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One video game console. Part of the Halo franchise, the game was released on October 27, 2015. Halo 5 takes place in the year 2558, and is set eight months after the events of Halo 4‍ '​s Spartan Ops game mode. Players experience the campaign from the point of view of two Spartan fireteams, one consisting of Spartan-II's and the other consisting of Spartan-IV's. The Spartan-II Blue Team is led by the legendary Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and is composed of his Spartan-II teammates Linda-058, an elite sniper who is considered to be the best sharp shooter in the UNSC, Kelly-087, a scout known for her incredible speed and John's closest friend, and Fred-104, a CQB Specialist and John's second in command who worries over the mental state of his long time friend.     I beat the campaign in less than 7 hours. Would have been 6 but I went looking for the intel. Kinda disappointed that it was so short and the disjointed story from switching back and forth between Locke and Chief didn't help much, especially when you only play as Chief less than 5 times. The DBNO mechanic never gave me a chance to feel defeated and I only had to help out teammates twice while they dumbly risked their lives to help me several times. The levels are still excellently crafted and Sanghelios and Genesis are amazing when you stop and take a look around. The multiplayer has exchanged Spartan Ops for Warzone with Firefight making a return as a Warzone playlist. The rest of it feels the same: its still high adrenaline action with plenty of varieties to keep anyone interested. Overall the game feels like another step up in the franchise, much like 4 was from Reach, but a few new ideas aren't enough to save it from becoming stale.

    Master Chief, no Cortana, and 3 of the original Spartan II's? Yes please! Put them up against some of the new Spartans on the block and you've got a compelling tale of old school vs. new school. I can't wait.

    So apparently this'll be the first Halo without local co-op and as for competitive splitscreen the amount of players you can have has been halved: http://www.gamesradar.com/halo-5-splitscreen-co-op-60fps/ Real shame for the series

      Editing … I didn't really like Halo 4 either so this has just put me off the post-Bungie Halo series even more. On the bright side it's a hint I was right not to wait and see how awesome this was before I bought a PS4.

      Editing … Yeah I can't think of any games worth getting Xone for off the top of my head so my next console will be a Wii-U at this stage. With that said, the gap between PS4 and Xone isn't that big so far (quite a few games run better on Xone) and there's only a few exclusives.

      Editing … Exclusive wise the main thing setting them apart for me is Bloodborne and the prospect of Uncharted 4/No Man's Sky so yeah, it's not a massive gap.

      Editing … I played the first one for about an hour with friends once. It was fun. I've never played online multiplayer so I don't know if I would also find that fun.

    Although Halo 4 was a major disappointment, the Halo franchise still stands on a pedestal above all other shooters in my mind. From the library in Halo 1 to the Lone wolf in Halo Reach, playing Halo on legendary with all the skulls with my friends from start to finish remains one of my fondest memories of High school.
