Grim FandangoVideo Game (Adventure)

Grim Fandango is a dark comedy neo-noir adventure game released by LucasArts in 1998 for Windows, with Tim Schafer as the game's project leader. It is the first adventure game by LucasArts to use 3D computer graphics overlaid on pre-rendered, static backgrounds. As with other LucasArts adventure games, the player must converse with other characters and examine, collect, and use objects correctly to solve puzzles in order to progress. The puzzles are waaaaaay too hard. But the storyline, the animation and the voice acting make it worth playing.

Grim Fandango as an artistic achievement is a gem to be treasured, but as a game it's a diamond in the rough. Regardless of some gameplay mishaps, every other segment of this incredible journey will have you completely engrossed.
Pros: One of the cleverest writings in and outside of the medium, really funny, Glottis and Manny are a fantastic and utterly charming duo of unlikely protagonists, generally clever and imaginative puzzles, fantastic art style and voice acting, great soundtrack, varied gameplay, superb story and cast of characters, well realized and believable world
Cons: Uneven pacing (second year goes on for far too long), constant running back and forth between locations to solve puzzles, cumbersome movement, some puzzles are obtuse in their complications and in some the most logical solutions aren’t available, muddy quality of the backgrounds makes certain items tough to spot, inventory management is a drag, remastered version has visual and game crashing bugs

Whenever I try to save in Grim Fandango, the game crashes
Playing old games on PC is more cumbersome, than it should be...

Demi Axersia Then just buy it again, Mr. Hot Shot Civil Servant Rich Guy. And yeah, it's gonna make the game run better, fix bugs, and even add in point 'n' click controls. Double Fine actually talked to the ResidualVM team on how they did it so they could add it to the HD remaster.

Speaking of the last great adventure games, Grim Fandango is easily the king of them. Made by the famous Tim Schafer and released by now defunct Lucas Arts, Grim Fandango is a beautiful film noir game set in the land of the dead with an art deco style to it. It feels deliciously 40's at times and oozes style from the moment you start it up. Definitely worth playing at least once!

Score: 10.0 (Classic!)
