I didn't like VC as much as GTA3, but it's still a great game.

It just occured to me that the similarities between Vice City's lawyer Ken Rosenberg and Sean Penn's character in Carlito's Way can't be coincidental. At least to my knowledge Rockstar never confirmed this, but c'mon the whole game pays tribute to Scarface and Miami Vice already so it would only make sense that they drew inspiration for one of their characters from another gangster flick. It seems the Houser brothers are quite fond of Pacino's work :)

The first game in the GTA series that took the open-world design and combined it with a compelling protagonist and story. It proved a potent combination and the level of immersion achieved by this title opened the door for gaming to evoke real emotion in a way rarely seen before.

Nothing that compares with driving that long stretch of road on Mainland as the moon comes up and your favorite song comes on the radio. A truly transcendent experience.

A great story like in all the rest GTA games, decent amount of side quests, nice world and awesome missions. The game is fun and definitely a must play.

I'm not going to judge it on its storyline since it's basically a homage to a variety of crime capers, from Miami Vice and De Palma's Scarface (the most obvious influences here), to Goodfellas, The Godfather, Casino, etc, so you're not going to find much depth there (neither are you meant to be since it's half homage, half satire). The real strengths of Vice City lie in its gameplay, its humour, its choice of music (this 80s child gets giddy with nostalgia whenever I hear Nena or Jan Hammer on the car radio), plus the fact that it took the groundbreaking concept of GTA3 and pushed it one stage further to a cohesive storyline and an even more involving game world, all of which make Vice City probably the strongest of the GTA games.

My favorite Grand Theft Auto game GTA: Vice City. The 80's setting was fantastic, only made better with the best soundtrack in the seies. The music gave you feeling that you really in the 80's, and no other gta game had better humor the Vice City. The story of Vice City is alot like the movie Scarface but better imo. And just like with every Rockstar game the voice acting is incredible.
