Somewhere along the line, the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie started a long-distance project with an Dntel, an electronica artist from Seattle. Although the band didn't stick around for more than one album, their side project became an unexpected smash hit. To say the least, it was one of the few side project albums that resonated with everyone for years. It also inspired a million other new musicians to create minimalist-style projects that fused electronica with rock.
