Gex: Enter The Gecko for GBC is Gex' first 2D outing on a handheld console, and it went pretty well, I'd say! The levels are nicely designed and the difficulty is just right. In fact, I'd say that this is the easiest of the Gex games. The graphics are serviceable but not spectacular (it's a GameBoy Color game that also works on the original GameBoy after all). The music is very ear-rapey, which I loved. Yes, you read that right. When I played this game with friends online, they all hated the music, but I loved it! So, if you love ear rape, you will love this music! If you don't, then it's probably best to turn down the volume. This game has quite a lot of content - it'll take you 10-15 hours for 100% completion. So far, it's a 8/10.

So, why did I give it a 6.5/10 in the end? Well, this game suffers from a huge problem: sometimes jumping doesn't work. Yes. You press the jump button, but Gex doesn't want to jump, which - in most cases - will result you plummeting down or even to your death. I don't know if it's an issue with Gex' animations, the collision detection, or the game engine. A 2D platforming game which sometimes cancels your jumps is a 2D platforming game that has a fatal flaw. So I unfortunately can't rate it higher than that. Patch this bug out, and you will have the best Gex game. Since a patch doesn't exist though, Gex: Enter The Gecko on PS1 still reigns supreme.
