Editing … The SP is great. I bought mine to play Pokémon Emerald and Final Fantasy IV on the go, but I ended up picking up Breath of Fire I & II for £16 about a week later and they were excellent. I still have games I want to play on this.

I could get an EZFlash IV or a Supercard or Everdrive or any equivalent and just pirate all my GBA games
and for some games that'd be okay
but I like to own my games.
If I'm playing something as grand as A Link to the Past, I want it to feel genuine.
music and movies can just be uploaded and downloaded whenever fuck you it's my life YOLO

Editing … Even crunchyroll is a lie. I have no ads on Windows phone but tons of ads on iPad. Which is *hilarious* but it technically puts me in a bubble. Well if not for the fact that ads presumably don't buffer every five seconds like it does for me and my slow internet, but I refuse to acknowledge that other people have faster internet than me.

Editing … And it can play gameboy and gameboy color games. It's how I played the first Dragon Warrior, one of my favorite games. It's kinda fragile though. I've had two of them break. And closing the clamshell doesn't stop the game like with the DS.

Editing … Clamshell designs in general are quite fragile. That's the main point behind the 2DS design. Makes the SP a lot more portable though!

SP is hype. If you have one you don't need a gameboy, gameboy color, or a DS (since 3DS can play DS). Plus the brightness is good.

The original GBA was impressive enough, being a huge technical leap from the Game Boy Color in almost every relevant way (a larger screen with greater pixel density, far great color and sound capabilities, more power than the SNES, small cartridges that still held more data than SNES cartridges, etc).

The SP though, added a rechargable battery, built-in lighting, was more compact, had a clamshell design that protected the screen, and cost no more than the original.

And it could still play cartridges from 1989.

By 2003 standards, I can't think of a single problem. And even now, taken as a small and specialized device, it is still excellent.

A nice little piece of hardware. It is very comfortable to hold (not as big and clunky as the DS/3DS), has a long battery service life and - the best advantage the SP has over the original GBA - it has a front light feature so you can also play games in the dark. Backwards compatibility to GameBoy and GameBoy Color games is also great with a high amount of color palettes to choose from.

All the games I have ever played on this system are great! This is my favorite portable gaming device. 10/10
