One of those arcade gems that feel like they would be more at home on a home console rather than an arcade. This game is special in in the way that it incorporates RPG elements like equipment and leveling up in the traditional beat 'em up format, in a way it plays very much like a precursor to the likes of Guardian Heroes. RPG elements aside this is a great beat 'em up by itself, with breathtaking visuals, badass bosses and a suprisingly fleshed out (with animated cutscenes betwen stages!) storyline this game has production values ahead of it's kin and that coupled with the fact that level and equipment carries over continues (the most ingenious coin munching technique I've come across) makes for a very addictive game. It's only sin is that the controls can at times be too slow and make some attacks almost unavoidable. It's a shame this game never saw a home console release but it's definitely reccomended if you're looking for a new arcade game to play.
