Lich is full of sprouts (new players), bots, bads and RPers so party finder was mostly dead. Now there's 60+ PF listings and its glorious. What server are you on and which job have you started with?

Saved!AxersiaEditing … Well, the story hasn't really changed as much as it is just set later in the timeline. Most MMOs work like that. For example, Lineage II was divided into 4 sagas: The Chaotic Chronicle, The Chaotic Throne, Goddess of Destruction, and Epic Tale of Aden. These are always used as the subtitle during the time that they are in effect. Two MMOs with the same title that are truly different are Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World and RO2: Legend of the Second, with the latter having been made from scratch and being a completely different game. Realm Reborn is still based upon the original. Assets have been re-used, and most of the world is still intact. But I never played the original FF14, so I guess I can't say say for sure.
