Final Fantasy X (ファイナルファンタジーX, Fainaru Fantajī Ten?) is a role-playing video game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) as the tenth entry in the Final Fantasy series. Originally released in 2001 for Sony's PlayStation 2, the game was re-released as a high-definition port for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on March 18, 2014, under the name Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. It will also be re-released for the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2015. The game marks the Final Fantasy series transition from entirely pre-rendered backdrops to fully three-dimensional areas, and is also the first in the series to feature voice acting. Final Fantasy X replaces the Active Time Battle (ATB) system with the "Conditional Turn-Based Battle" (CTB) system, and uses a new leveling system called the "Sphere Grid".     Fun fact: the remaster on Steam requires a mouse. If you haven't connected a mouse to your PC (or tablet), it crashes with no error information. Once you connect a mouse (it can also be just the receiver of a wireless mouse that is turned off), it works. Really weird oversight by Square Enix...

      Editing … It's lots of grinding, especially if you want the absolute maximum (all stats 255, almost 80k HP, every fully-upgraded Celestial weapon + every character having armor with the "Ribbon"-ability). The Dark Aeons were pretty easy to beat then (except the Magus Sisters).

      Editing … The Chocobo Racing has always been harder for me. This time I completed both challenges pretty quickly though. I still remember how it took me hours to get 0 seconds in that Chocobo minigame... this time I made it after only a couple tries. Guess I do "get gud" after a while...

    Where you have to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row with twitch timing to get Lulu's sigil

    I'm playing through this again cause I got the HD remaster, I was never able to fully appreciate when I was younger how good the writing is and it struck me early on how great the pace at which it feeds you information is, it doesn't overload you and keeps things interesting. Only thing that ruins the dialogue is the direction of the voice acting. God I miss Final Fantasy.

    Currently on yet another run on this incredible game. In all my playthrough's i've always got upto Sin and done a couple of Dark Aeons then moved onto something else. This time i'm going all out, i'm determined to complete this game to the max so i can finally say after all these years i've beaten you proper.

      Editing … I'm doing the same actually, I never finished the game before but I restarted it at least three or four times. Like all the other FFs I've played. xD I only beat the first, second, third and fourth. And FFTA.

    I've tried really hard to ignore FFX because the voice acting is pretty bad. However, this game as a whole is still incredible. The graphics and the gameplay lived up to all the hype behind this release. More importantly, the orchestral quality of the soundtrack was unlike anything I'd ever heard. 10 might have marked the end of the predictable, turn-based Final Fantasy franchise, but it also showed that the franchise still could blow everyone away with gorgeous graphics, spirits, magic and...stuff.

      Editing … I'm replaying this on Vita right now. I think this marks my 4th playthrough of the game. It's still such a fun game even if the voice work is grating. I miss turn-based battles. Final Fantasy X's battle system is perfect in my mind :)

      Editing … I didn't think that other games wouldn't follow the same pattern, but then The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky followed the same exact setup. And over time, I became a bigger fan of the one-turn-at-a-time system. Like, I can actually take a snack break. It's amazing! Lol.

    Just went through the Omega dungeon, the boss wasn't as hard as I expected, though you have to go a long ways without a save point, so I suppose that's more the challenge. That was neat. I've never really done a big optional thing like that in a Final Fantasy game. I'm curious to find out exactly how Yuna's new rod affects the overdrive.

    Perhaps it's unsurprising that this game is no longer as well liked as it was, but to this day, I still find it to be one of my favourites in the entire series, thanks mostly to it's atmosphere and characters.

      Editing … Square Enix seems to have a history of treating PC gamers especially well, at least in recent years. They're delivered some of the greatest ports, with additional content or especially improved visuals (not to put down consoles), and they've slowly been delivering the full FF series to us. The FFXV twitter even said they were considering a DX12 version of the game (they ought to go Vulkan)
