Fever to Tell is the debut album by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, released on April 29, 2003, through Interscope. It was produced by David Andrew Sitek and mixed by Alan Moulder. Fever to Tell was nominated for a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album and was certified Gold in the UK. The video for "Maps" was nominated at the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and the MTV2 Award. The New York Times chose Fever To Tell as the best album of the year. In June 2005, the album was ranked number 89 on Spin magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Albums, 1985–2005. It is also featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. In 2009, the album was named by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork Media, and NME, the 28th, 24th, and 5th best album of the decade, respectively....

    I remember hearing this band on MTV when their debut first came out. I watched that damned video for "Date With the Night" and I didn't know what to make of them. Lol. I mean, "Maps" ended up becoming the big hit, but that first single was some adrenaline rush...

    Fever To Tell was never an immediate smash hit in the U.S. until "Maps" started to play as a single. Then people slowly decided to buy the album with the outrageous-looking cover. This first album pushed the band to the limit with loud guitars and Karen O's screeching howls. Karen O has said in concert that this album was meant to make people f***ing dance. And there's tons of intense jams with sexy lyrics, orgasmic singing and loud beats. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs never received the attention that they deserved, but at least they taught the kids how to just have childish fun and uh...smash s**t.
