I never understood the appeal behind this. Seriously, tell me - not so I can sneer at you, but because I'm genuinely interested to see why so many people love this film.

Editing … I just find it hilarious. The singing scene is great.

Editing … Ferris is the guy that 'everyone' wants to be. He's not exactly popular but he's smooth and cool. For the most part people relate with wanting to skip school and just have a day of greatness. Music's catchy and it has that John Hughes charm to it. Do you like other John Hughes films?

Editing … For me it's nostalgia. I loved the movie as a kid. (Why exactly, I wouldn't know without having to rewatch it. Possibly skipping school was very appealing for the young school boy that I was) Don't know when I've last seen it, or whether I've seen it as an adult. If I saw it today for the first time, I wouldn't be so much into it, I think. Plus, iirc the german voice over was very charming.

Editing … I watched like the first half hour or something and was pretty put off by it. I found Ferris really unlikable and would not want to be him or be around him. I related much more to that crusty principal guy you're probably supposed to hate and love see get tormented.

Editing … I mostly relate to Eggnog here because that's more or less how I felt when I watched it. I just didn't like Ferris, he came across as smug git and I don't think this is the kind of film where you're not supposed to root for the protagonist. I guess John Hughes simply isn't my cup of tea, since I couldn't get into The Breakfast Club either.

Editing … The Breakfast Club I did like. Although it was also very 80s, I see it as a very different kind of movie. The first time I only saw part of it on TV and actually had no idea what it was.

As someone from the greater Chicagoland area, this movie provided a special bonding moment between my parents, my sister, and me. This movie helped introduce me to what was in the city when my parents grew up, and the culture surrounding the city. The movie's plot is great, too. In addition, the characters feel like real people, hell, Ferris reminds me of a friend of mine. All in all, this movie's great, and a must-watch for anyone in this day and age.
