    Damn straight.
This video accurately reflects and echoes my feelings towards things and stuff. I agree with every point made by its host and therefore her video must be factually right. That's just how things work. In conclusion, fuck sexism. Peace y'all

Editing … I agree with the sentiment but I don't think I really agree with all of it. I think a racial diversity of sex appeal in games is a good thing. Sexuality is going to appear in games either way and I would rather see diversity in it than have everyone 'hot' be white, that to me would be a lot more racist. I play a lot of RPGs and it's somewhat rare to find a 'hot guy' or a 'hot girl' there with darker skin. These games unfairly assume I don't want to see defined black abs even though I do.

Editing … The part about incorporating stereotypical design elements is true though, I can't think of a depiction of native Americans in Japanese games that isn't at least mildly cringe...

Editing … Might not be wise to bemoan white males while also preaching solidarity. Demonising someone while simultaneously demanding their help seems like a good way to make enemies, not friends. Might be time to start working WITH men and not against them. You know, like in the good old days of feminism when feminists actually stood for something worth giving a damn about.

Editing … She unironically has some good points. Many of her points are stupid, but the opening one about the commercial and how disgustingly stupidly much it's sexualized, it's just a shitty commercial. She has a really dislikeable face though. A lot of people will bring up the "Yeah, but what about guys they're always hot as fuck" argument, which is true in a sense, but they are nowhere nearly as sexualized as women. But yeah, just look at Kratos, look at Leon, look at Snake, they're all sexy as hell. If majority of "hardcore gamers" would be women, there would be more content aimed at them than at men. Oh and also there is a study that shows that women would rather play with an attractive character than an unattractive one. So while she has some points, I think the video series is just silly. And it's silly to bring up a zany commercial from the late 90's as a focal point of your video, or use zany off the wall type of characters like Bayonetta as evidence. 3/10, not horrible but could be a lot better and is not necessary in any way.

Editing … Kratos.... sexy as hell.... um, let's see, did anyone rank him in Most Attractive Male Character Designs? Survey says.... nope! I'm not so keen on the "these depictions of characters damage the pillars of society for women" angle of these videos, but I certainly agree with the "these depictions are incredibly alienating to anyone other than straight men." Saying that the depictions would change if more women played such and such games is putting the cart before the horses. I'm amazed that after decades of such a narrow focus in game marketing that women play games as much as they do. It's been really cool to see a lot of my female friends and acquaintances playing a game like Overwatch. Women preferring attractive characters doesn't mean they prefer they look like strippers. It occurred to me earlier this year while playing AC: Syndicate (not being worth anyone's time aside) that Evie Frye was one of the first female characters I'd seen in a long time who looked "cool." I was really bummed that Favorite Female Character Designs got changed to "hottest waifus" before I could rank her. While the industry has improved a lot with women with more realistic proportions and wearing more practical outfits appropriate to their setting like Faith Connors, Ellie, Alyx Vance etc. I can't think of many with outfits that lean closer to "cool" than "hot." You've got Samus Aran obviously and.... uh, maybe FemShep? There are issues with depictions of men as well, but for totally different reasons. The adage used to be "Men in games are who the male character wants to be, women in games are who the male character wants to fuck." Men like most people want to look attractive, but they probably don't want to be depicted as Chippendales dancers in moment to moment gameplay in an inappropriate situation. Many a joke has been made about how the overwhelming majority of gaming protagonists are dark haired, chisel-jawed white dudes. I remember how male internet whiners got pissy when the Mobius Final Fantasy protagonist didn't look like someone they wanted to look like, OR bone, and you've seen similar results for other more effeminate characters like Donte and Raiden, though admittedly with some other factors at play. But in the end I think gaming would be improved as an artistic medium by depicting both men and women with more varied body types, ethnicities, facial features and overall appearances.

Editing … I agree with her main points but I think the way she brings it out isn't the best possible. And I think that a lot of people consider Kratos sexy, he is a literal Greek God after all :P Also I truly think that Bayonetta is cool. Joanna Dark is cool, FemShep is cool I guess, a lot of the ladies in The Witcher 3 are cool as all hell, Fallout series has cool women, Jade from Beyond Good & Evil. Women are still marginalized and sexualized in video games, but it's been getting better. And when I said that "if there were women who played, there'd be more content pandering to them" I didn't mean to justify the marginalization, I meant to explain it. I think it's perfectly well understandable and doesn't hurt anyone or at least almost anyone. Would definitely be better if there was more diversity and all that, but I don't think it's as big a problem as many seem to make it out to be. I also don't see something like Witcher 3 not having black people in it as a problem. But I don't know anything so eh.

Editing … Hades in GoW was also a literal Greek God, and.... yech. And I mean cool as judged purely aesthetically, the way male characters commonly get to look cool. Evie's outfit looks slick yet comfortable and utilitarian. She looks lethal and professional. In terms of writing the Witcher 3's ladies are way cooler than Evie, but Yen and Triss' looks lean far more towards "yum" then "don't fuck with me," and Ves' attire is especially out of place for her profession. Ciri's look is fairly respectable if a little generic, though it's especially nice to see a major female character with a facial disfigurement even if it's fairly minor. But I definitely commend CDPR for getting better in this area with each installment. But then Joanna Dark's character is all catsuits, tank tops and cleavage. Bayonetta quite deliberately looks like a dominatrix. It's not about whether they are cool characters as a whole, it's about what is being communicated by how they look, and I wish we could have more female equivalents of Darth Vader, Master Chief, Ryu Hyabusa etc. across all mediums, but games especially. As for what harm the state of the industry does to society, yeah, I already said I don't like the melodramatic alarmism you get from some folks, but the way I see it is people spend huge amounts of time discussing media and how to improve it, especially in nerd circles. You hear all about tired cliches, gaping plot holes, crappy game design trends, but as soon as such talk revolves around issues of gender, race or sexuality, half the internet's assholes light on fire and all of a sudden it's "making a big deal out of nothing." Secondly, I really enjoy sharing entertainment experiences with others, and a huge number of the people in my life are women. I love going to the movies with my girlfriend of seven years and I'm glad if we go to an action flick I can be secure in the knowledge that such films have evolved beyond the years of Sean Connery patronizing women and then telling them to leave by smacking them on the ass. I remember how perturbed I was by Jonah Hill getting anally raped in Get Him to the Greek getting played for laughs, and had a hard time laughing or getting into the lighthearted spirit after that. So I like to put myself in others shoes when it comes to those with different backgrounds from mine and think about how alienating so much media must feel. Sure, TW3 having no black people (though the Ofieri count for something) is one thing, but how many games outside of RPG's or other games with character creation even acknowledge the existence of gay people? How many of those few like the Last of Us came out in the last few years? How many show favorable depictions that aren't disparaging or stereotypical, and wouldn't it suck for a gay gamer to see the industry he/she loves do all but pretend they don't exist? Things are certainly getting better, but I really think that's because devs and publishers have responded to these issues being raised into the public consciousness by people like Anita Sarkeesien, even if I agree she isn't the best spokesperson. Lingerie armor may not compare to a clitorectomy, but bottom line is I'd like to find ways for more or less everyone to enjoy the fun.

Editing … Yeah, I see only good things in making game characters more diverse. I'm not sure how urgent a topic it is, but as it doesn't require any extra effort I don't see anything stopping devs. Like in (again) The Witcher 3 where it's pretty casually dropped that Mislav, a regular hunter out in the woods is gay. He doesn't have a lisp, he doesn't prance around, he acts like every other character in the game. Or Lambert who is pretty strongly implied to be bisexual, that's never made a big deal out of, it's just there. And it makes me feel comfy and happy. I like good writing, and I like inclusive writing so you bet your sweet ass I like nothing more than good inclusive writing. Probelm is something like Dragon Age: Inquisition where the whole game was pretty bland with some horrific elements in it, and during the advertisement process they used the gay guy (can't remember the guy's name but it's the latin guy with the moustache) as a "OUR FIRST FULLY GAY GUY, LOOK AT HIM HE IS SO FABULOUS AND STEREOTYPICAL BECAUSE WE DONT BELIEVE WE HAVE TO RUB IT IN YOUR FACE" but in game he was the best written character out of them all. When being a woman or black or gay or anything turns into a gimmick, I start hating on it intensely. Lee from Walking Dead, I love, one of my favorite characters ever, he is black but it has nothing to do with who he is, just like in real life.

Editing … Oh and also I find it hilarious that MGS franchise gets so much shit on (and especially Quiet deserves the shit, I think the design is tacky and plain stupid) but the game series is incredibly charged with some homosexual undertones. Which I absolutely love. They are at times pretty in your face, and I love seeing angry gamers explain why Ocelot kissing Boss on the mouth is totally not homosexual, or why Volgin and Raikov are obviously not lovers or why it's totally not gay for Snake and Otacon to grow Sunny together as a family. Point is, I agree with you, but I don't like Anita Sarkeesian and I think that she alienates a lot of people who would agree on her basic principles.

Editing … Lol, in the ending of Twin Snakes where Meryl dies and Snake escapes with Otacon I couldn't help but hear the Brokeback Mountain theme (yeah, I was kinda late to Metal Gear). The voice acting is so much more soft spoken than in the original, and it has all those cinematic camera angles as they wistfully stare out at the Aurora Borealis. Snake and Otacon are pretty much textbook bromance, which is cool and all, but that tone came a little out of left field and I couldn't help but find it amusing.
