TV Tropes is one of the sites I visit most, pretty much every day at least once, so this is fairly comprehensive (especially since I can just copy what my profile page there says). Sorry for the jargon but TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Vocabulary. I'm not linking anything partially because I'm not evil but mostly because I am lazy.

    In no particular ranking:
    Affably Evil
    All Myths Are True
    Anyone Can Die
Chronic Hero Syndrome and Samaritan Syndrome
Dark is Not Evil and Light is Not Good
Deconstruction and Reconstruction, when done well, and especially Decon-Recon Switches
Earn Your Happy Ending, Bittersweet Ending, and Downer Ending, when they're well done
    The Federation
    The Fettered and The Unfettered
Good is Not Dumb, Good is Not Nice, and Good is Not Soft
    Hero of Another Story
    Heroic Vow
Humans Are Flawed and Humans Are Survivors
Living Forever is Awesome and general aversions and subversions of Who Wants to Live Forever?, and sometimes Living Forever is No Big Deal
    Screw Destiny
    Shown Their Work
Starfish Aliens and occasionally Humanoid Aliens
    Take a Third Option
    Thou Shalt Not Kill
    To Be a Master
    Tragic Dream
    True Companions
    War is Hell
aversions and subversions of the What Measure Is an Index?

Editing … To Be a Master - it usually doesn't seem like it's what the show is about. Take Pokemon, Ash isn't just a bad Pokemon trainer he's also bad at becoming a good Pokemon trainer and there is nobody coaching him. It's just "let's do this today".

Editing … To Be a Master is just a trope meaning the hero (or whomever) has a goal of becoming great at whatever they're doing.

Editing … well the page even says it's just a vehicle for shonen series. It's a cliche, nothing particular inspiring. (imo at least)

Editing … It's common in anime and manga but not exclusive for them. Anyway I like most of these tropes for their meshing with my personal philosophy e.g. I like To Be a Master because it's an inspiring thing to strive for in real life.

Editing … So I'm a sucker for when these tropes- especially a few of them like the immortality ones and futurism ones- are done well and without cynicism.

Editing … yea your list reflects a moral optimism and I like that. Stuff like heroic vow and living forever is awesome. In practice though I feel like To Be a Master isn't really about what it claims it is. (and when it is, it can be quite boring. Training montages, anyone??)

Editing … Well on the one hand I disagree that seeing people strive for some sort of goal in their field can't be entertaining, but aside from that it 1. doesn't have to be the only thing the work is about and 2. shouldn't be expected to happen all at once or all the time since it's a gradual process.
