My biggest time sink reason for ages, as i am still updating my mod as potential for improvement is still massive. The playable timeline (any startdate for any existing country selectable) is total 422 years by the way (my project 573), starting in 1399 ending in 1821 still refering on the base game EU3 V5.2, most descriptions are just wrong here. Rating should be obvious...

Editing … Yeah I found some good deals on Third Rome and Cradle of Civilization a few days apart a few weeks ago so I grabbed them. But I just meant if I hosted mp we would have all DLCs.

Editing … Which mod was that? There are a few big ones. I’ve played some games in Extended Timeline but never got into MEIOU and Taxes or VeF yet. I think those are the most popular ones.

If games like Civilization and Age of Empires sacrifice the occasional piece of history for a bit of exciting and intuitive gameplay, Paradox games like EU3 do the opposite. This is a slow-moving simulation hybrid covering about 400 years of world history in great depth, with literally every in-game day as a unit of time across the globe. Over 300 real countries and similar entities, including quite a few from outside of Europe, are included, and every major facet of grand strategy is included.

EU3 is an ambitious game, which is ultimately to its benefit. The main problem is that it expects players to be ambitious as well. Its feeble attempts at tutorials are cute, but EU3 is too complex to simply jump into. It also hurts that rounds easily take over 20 hours to play through. Plus, as is historically accurate, the game's factions are extremely unbalanced.

This is the game for the brave history/strategy buffs out there.

Editing … As a fan of EU3 i can tell that it is only historical on first sight, at second and third sight inaccurancies are all over the place. This is the reason i only play mods of it, as the base game is kept simple compared to them. Sinking ~100 hours into just one campaign happens so easily...

In an attempt to take revenge on those backstabbing Portugese traitors I lost the mighty nation of Spain to the needlessly aggressive and opportunistic leaders of medieval France and Great Britain.

    I'm sorry.

Typical Paradox game. It was the buggiest game launch ive ever seen but has since evolved in to a very entertaining grand strategy game. I love reading the AAR's on the forums.
