You see, you may not be aware but "Cost me an arm and a leg" is an expression that generally means that something was expensive. Now, Nodley here used swimming with dolphins as a set-up because it's an expensive activity as he denotes himself, just in case you where not aware. He then moves to compare that to sharks. Now what makes this joke so good is that sharks look quite similar with dolphins, which makes a easier connection, but a shark would most likely proceed to eat your arm and your leg, making the expression not really an expression, as you might expect from the set-up, and something very real. I'd give this joke a overall 8 out of 10.
