Looks like the first game is hitting Steam. I was hoping Disgaea in some way, shape, or form would come to PC. SRPGs fit really well there.

A very quirky game with a bratty and egotistical kid fighting with an army of explosive and reluctant demon penguins? Sign me up! The game follows the story of Laharl as he fights for power in the Netherworld after his father, the Overlord passed away. With the help of his "friend" Etna, a ditzy angel girl, Flonne, and a bunch of demons YOU can create and add to your army, Laharl must fight on grid based maps against various and quirky enemies in order to claim his rightful title.

The main appeal to this game is the vast amounts of customization and stat boosting there are. There are various units and monsters you can create and deploy onto the battlefield and their level scaps at 9999, and that's not even counting the ability to reincarnate these characters over and over to carry over their stats.

Between the game's fun story and characters and the turn based strategy gameplay emphasizing power leveling, this is an awesome game.

I had a tough time figuring out how to play Disgaea. However, I never really hated this game, because the challenge was still fair. It never forced me to play to conclusion. The game gave me free reign to level up my characters, figure out how to learn spells, and create special characters. The story is also fun to play through, but it has a huge item world where players can max out party members with ridiculously powerful attacks.

And...to this day I haven't finished it, but that's okay. I'm still enjoying every second of it.

Score: 10.0 (Classic!)
