Oscar Isaac, star of Ex Machina and the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is a big movie star these days. A few years back, though, you could find him doing voice work on video games, like the “terrible” Dante’s Inferno. Or not.

In an interview with Birth.Movies.Death. (via Dtoid), Isaac was asked about his game work, since he lent his voice to the Force Awakens stuff in this year’s Disney Infinity:

Was that your first time doing voice over?

I had done a video game before, but I got fired off it.

    How come?

I think they just thought I was bad. It was such a shitty game, though. Dante’s Inferno.

That is a really bad game.

    Terrible.

    You dodged a bullet there.

I had no choice. It was a Force dodge.

Editing … Was it that bad? I played the demo and it just seemed like a God of War clone with a less annoying main character.

Editing … I completed it in 2013 and had fun with it. Mr Isaac just comes off as salty here.

Editing … Well, it is a really generic, sup-bar game. A worse DMC, a worse God of War. Maybe a bit salty, but also rather right.

Editing … I remember looking forward to it at the time because it was getting compared to God of War which I really wanted to try but couldn't because I only had a 360. Funny in hindsight considering I ended up disliking God of War when I did get to try it.

Editing … It's a blatant rip-off is what it is and also could be considered to be the start of Visceral's downfall as a game developer. Still, 6.5/10.

Dante's Inferno is a game I like. I like the feeling of the game, and the look of Hell. The gameplay works. The game also doesn't get monotonous for me. The game looks good with only a couple of exceptions. Overall I liked it.

For a hack n' slash game, it's surprising how much you can avoid hacking and slashing simply by abusing the overpowered range attack! Some fixed camera angles during the platforming segments can cause some cheap deaths, but for the most part the basic mechanics are competent and intuitive. The story feels like it's trying to be more complex than it actually is, but it isn't rammed into the player's face and therefore doesn't come across as pretentious.

Editing … I found a relic that made me invincible while using the ranged attack. So, uh... overpowered is right.
