DC Comics
DC Comics, Inc. is an American comic book publisher. It is the publishing unit of DC Entertainment, a company of Warner Bros. Entertainment, which itself is owned by Time Warner. DC Comics is one of the largest and most successful companies operating in American comic books, and produces material featuring many well-known characters, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Hawkgirl, and Green Arrow. The fictional DC universe also features superhero teams such as the Justice League, Justice Society, and the Teen Titans, as well as antagonists such as the Joker, Lex Luthor, Darkseid and Professor Zoom. The initials "DC" came from the company's popular series Detective Comics, which featured Batman's debut and subsequently became part of the company's name. Originally in Manhattan at 432 Fourth Avenue, the DC Comics offices have been located at 480 and later 575 Lexington Avenue; 909 Third Avenue; 75 Rockefeller Plaza; 666 Fifth Avenue; and 132 …

Saved! My copy of Batman: Three Jokers arrived today! It was such a fun read. I've always loved the dynamic between Batman and Joker, and I have to say that the ending to this was great. Sure, the comic as a whole isn't perfect, but it still has a lot to give. Definitely glad I picked it up :)
P.S. Reading Joker is always better when you imagine Mark Hamil's voice. -
Saved!My latest obsession.
I've been re-watching a bunch of stuff. The Dark Knight Returns and Under the Red Hood animated movies are still great. I've realised that I am severely lacking in the animated DC department, so I have ordered Assault on Arkham and Justice League: War, both of which I loved when I first saw them. I also ordered the old Batman movies, because it has been years since I've seen the Keaton's Batman. I have no intention of watching the travesty that is Batman & Robin though.
I also restarted Arrow from the beginning, as it has been a long time since I last watched it. I've also returned to watching Gotham too. It's my intention to watch as many of the DC shows as I can before I inevitably dive headlong into some other obsession.
Re-watched The Dark Knight Rises. It was my first time watching it on Blu-Ray and holy shit did they balls up with Tom Hardy's audio. They have made it so much louder than everything else and it's too "clean". It sounds like a horrible dub job. I hate it. I understand there were complaints about trying to understand Bane, but this is worse. It really put me off. I had zero issues with it in the cinema, so I am convinced they've edited it.
I also watched Man of Steel again. It's a good action movie and for the most part, I have enjoyed the DCEU. At least, the few movies I have seen (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman being good/ Suicide Squad being mediocre/ Justice League being awful).
Despite not being a comics guy, I have also pre-ordered the hardback of the Three Jokers, which I am excited to read when it comes out in November.
I'm aiming to watch the remaining movies in the DCEU and then moving onto the DCAU. (The follow-ups to Justice League War, etc). I've seen a couple of them before, but it was a while ago.
Batman has long been one of my favourite characters. I love antiheroes, vigolantes and bullshit Deus Ex Machina characters, so he ticks multiple boxes. Super hyped for Gotham Knights and I might finally return to playing Arkham Knight once I finish playing Horizon: Zero Dawn.
I'm having a blast!-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Teen Titans Go vs. Teen Titans is goddamn hilarious provided you don't have a bug up your ass about a cartoon that ended a bajillion years ago.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … Would I need to have seen any of Teen Titans Go to enjoy it? I loved the original Teen Titans.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Nope! It helps to go in knowing to expect the Go! versions of the Titans are a bunch of immature assholes who only perform superheroics for the glory. Otherwise like most parodies, the jokes should all land provided you have a passing familiarity with the characters and DC Comics in general.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I'll check it out! :)
-
-
Saved! What do y'all think of the stuff shown off at DC Fandome? I gotta say, I'm pretty hyped for Gotham Knights. Looks like The Division meets Batman:Arkham. I'm already more interested in that than Square Enix's Avengers. The new Batman movie looks like it could be decent too.
Anything DC-related that you guys are looking forward to?-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I really hate Matt Reeves' directing, but The Batman does have me excited. Robert Pattinson looks great. Gotham Knights didn't show anything that particularly excited me, but I'm interested. And yeah, looks a lot better than the Avengers game. I wonder if the departure from rhythm combat will disappoint a lot of fans though. Well, it's not technically a "departure" since it's not actually an Arkham game, but ya know, it's like... bordering Arkham.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … the Suicide Squad cinematic trailer reminded me of Sunset Overdrive. I really liked Sunset Overdrive! I wonder what the Suicide Squad gameplay will remind me of! :)
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Wonder Woman 1984 looks totally badass at least to me. I love WW's design and it's really fun seeing the lasso in action.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … WB is proving to be a dreadful company when it comes to games, and my expectations for 90% of AAA games these days are rock bottom. I'm pretty Batmaned out at this point and I'm also not a fan of Matt Reeves, but a Batman detective story that isn't Mask of the Phantasm is long overdue. I'm most excited for teh Suicide Squad. They had nowhere to go but up after the Ayer film, but Gunn seems to be really pouring his heart into it, and it looks tonally and stylistically distinct from the oversaturated superhero fare. I'll watch the Snyder Cut if it comes to a Canadian streaming service purely out of curiosity over how well they manage to polish the overproduced Whedon turd.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Oh yeah, WW 1984, didn't bother watching the trailer, already sold on watching it, no need to be spoiled any further. All two of Patty Jenkins movies were very good so I'll happily blast another into my eyeballs.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Yeah, I don't gotta see the WW1984 trailer, Wonder Woman's the best DCEU film and I know I'll be seeing the sequel. You seen the folk pushing for an Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad? I was so baffled by this tweet, I just had to save it. https://i.imgur.com/zfSccsf.png
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Ayer isn't even good, never mind the best. Leto's been good in other things in spite of being a creep, but I don't think I could handle an extra minute of screentime from his Joker.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Calling Ayer the best director is absolutely the most baffling part of that tweet. End of Watch is some kind of war crime.
-
-
Saved!I'm thinking of building up a DC dvd collection. Gotham is one of my new favourite shows, and Arrow has been really enjoyable too. I still hve quite a few of the animated movies to watch too.
-
Saved!Splatterhouse 5Editing … I was hooked on Gotham for a while, but it started to irritate me that no one ever seems to stay dead on the show. That being said, I do enjoy it enough to want to catch up on the latest season.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … That's a common problem I have with superhero based things. There is a loss of peril when you know some magical macguffin will bring them back

Saved!I started DC with the New 52 and read dozens of TPBs from 2012 and 2013. Those two years are, for the moment, the only ones where I read both Marvels and DCs. As such I'm still waiting for Favorite books lists but I might be the only one, as it's always about songs, albums and movies... But I never watched a single movie from the 70s, nor listened to a song from the 80s.
-
Saved!FincherEditing … Wait, you've seen Back to the Future, which had "Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News. I'm glad that's resolved.
-
Saved!Sha EmberEditing … xD. Yeah maybe one or two, I over-exaggerated, but I couldn't make a single good list. :P
-
Saved!MasterCrashEditing … You can't live in this world and not listen to songs from the 80s. They are just out there, everywhere
-
Saved!free fallEditing … Here's an 80s song I recommend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhFJtz7hflQ
-
Saved!Sha EmberEditing … I'm sorry Free fall, I listened to it but I didn't like...:X I think I'm more into pop voices, I don't really like grunge and garage genres.

Saved!Batman #1 preview:
http://www.darkknightnews.com/2016/06/preview-batman-1/-
Saved!Sha EmberEditing … The cover is ugly and the story looks a bit boring. They won't do as good as the new 52.
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … I'll definitely give it a try, I mean it's Batman after all. But first I'll catch up on the rest of the new 52 Batman comics
-
Saved!Sha EmberEditing … (I read Batman: Rebirth #1 and it was good. (This one: http://static1.squarespace.com/static/53323bb4e4b0cebc6a28ffa2/53573350e4b0758dd79db484/574ef5e901dbae6520c42c20/1464796231961/batman-rebirth-1.jpg?format=1000w ). I suppose it's the introduction issue of the new series.
