Counter-Strike: Source (commonly abbreviated as CSS or CS:S) is a complete remake of Counter-Strike using the Source game engine. As in the original, Counter-Strike: Source pits a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won either by completing an objective (such as detonating a bomb or rescuing hostages) or by eliminating all members of the enemy team. Counter-Strike: Source retains its team-based objective-oriented first-person shooter style gameplay. The aim of playing a map is to accomplish a map's objective: defusing the bomb, rescuing all hostages, or killing the entire opposing team. The ultimate goal of the game is to win more rounds than the opposing team. Once players are killed, they do not respawn until the next round, though this depends on which server people play on.     Meh. Valve can do better and did better, pretty simple game, I prefer other FPSs if I was to play with my friends but still the game is not bad and it can be fun for some people.

    CSS is another one of those games that's extremely hard to rate, since the overall enjoyment you'll get out of it depends heavily on the server you play on and your dedication to the game. However, strike gold with the server...
    Pros: There's nothing else quite like it, proper oldschool MP that never gets old, the modding community is exceptional, satisfying shooting, resistant community
    Cons: The randomness can sometimes be maddening, unless the server you play on embraces the modding community the game is pretty bare bones, steep learning curve, dated visuals

    Counter-Strike: Source provides a big graphical improvement compared to its predecessor. Built from the ground up with the Source engine, the old game has been brought up-to-date in order to stay current in the big sea of first-person-shooters, with merely some maps having been ported disputably poorly.

    All that being said, the core game is still intact, offering a wide variety of methods to hone skills that are always useful in any other FPS, like hand-eye-coordination, tactics and team-based play, to name just a few. Even so much so that the game is still being used in the pro-gaming scene. Which makes it a *very* recommendable game, even to this day.
