Contrast is a puzzle-platformer video game developed by Compulsion Games for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360. On October 31, 2013, the game was confirmed to launch as one of two free titles offered to PlayStation Plus members, along with Resogun. Set in a noir art deco atmosphere, the player controls Dawn, an imaginary friend who is able to move in 3D or phase into a silhouette that can jump between shadows, as in a 2D platformer. Through out the game, the player must solve puzzles that require movement between the physical world and the shadows. There is control over different light sources in the 3D world (spotlights, film projectors, etc) to create the proper shadow platformer paths to reach new areas. "Collectibles" are also available throughout the game that offer insights into the game's characters and the world they live in.     This game is a snooze fest. Bored and indecisive I sorted my collection on the PS5 hard drive by oldest purchases and clicked into it cause I think it was the first game I had on PS4 prob from PS+ or something. Thought it was short and I'd just get the plat trophy but I don't know, two nights in a row I started falling asleep playing it. There's a whole lot of nothing going on this game. The puzzles are too easy like a kids game but the story is too adult but also bland. May stick it out for another night but we'll see.

    Play-tested it. Reminding me much of "Lost in Shadow" in its gameplay – and the atmosphere is a bit "Alice: Madness Returns"-esque – "Contrast" lets you play as a woman who can choose to walk on the shadows at the wall. The story revolves around a little girl of which you are the imaginary friend – as far as I figure – and who suffers under the fact that her parents don't get along with each other. Plus, gangsters make it all worse.

    The 3D platforming puzzles are as interesting as puzzles involving light and shadow can be – hey, I liked LiS! – but with a frantic camera / movement system like that and a simplistic animation palette like it was common in the PS2-era, it's hard to recommend this title to anyone who is easily appalled by boring visuals. Furthermore, the world seems rather empty with so few optional collectibles that are too easily hidden, too, for my taste. Even though I'm still interested in finishing this, I deem it not worth its launch price.

    The more I see of #Contrast, the more I really wanna play it! That's a very good sign!!! Probably gonna snag this one on PS4. Anyone else interested in this title?
